Kenmore 7.5 freezer stopped working.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just replaced the overload relay and it does the same thing. Runs for a few seconds and the loud click from overload relay. I did notice the relay is really hot to the touch, if that matters.Coils on back are clean. I had noticed the last few months that the inside coils were frosting up quite a bit.Really had hoped it was the relay.

Freezer motor cuts in and out. Runs for about thirty seconds at a time. Now have red low temp light on and everything is defrosting. Sides of freezer used to be very warm and are now cold.

Good day,
Some kind of compressor problem. If it will run a true 30 seconds then it is either the start relay mounted on the side of the compressor hanging up and not releasing after the compressor starts or the main windings in the compressor are starting to short, causing the compressor to draw too much current followed by the protective overload shutting the compressor down.
The relay is pressed onto the compressor pins and can be removed.

A parts house should be able to test it for you. If bad, replace. If it tests good then the problem is internal to the compressor and would need the attention of a qualified tech.

P.S. If the unit is under 5 years of age, leave it alone and call for factory service. It may or may not be covered but if so it would be necessary to preserve the balance of the 5 year warranty.

Kenmore upright freezer model 29238 keeps tripping switch

If the compressor actually runs for more than a second or two its likely the compressor is bad. Some models had a 5 year warranty and some ten years on the compressor only. The replacement of the compressor is likely beyond your abilities unless you are a service technician.

A typical cost for such a repair can be more than the freezer may have cost you if nothing is under warranty. Good Luck.

We lost power due to storm since restored and now the compressor starts but stops within 30 seconds and does this over and over

It sound like your compressor is in trouble, I would try and see what amp. the compressor is running in this 30 seconds. If it is over the name plate requirement I would try to change a 3 in 1 electrical component to see wheather it helps. Check your amp. at all time.Hope this help.God Bless

The compressor works for a few seconds but then stops. The freezer is over temperature.

Check the condenser fan motor (next to compressor) make sure it is running. Next change relay (inside black box) on compressor.

My freezer's defrost systems runs constantly

i dont think so i would look at the compressor kicking out on thermal overload or a faulty thermostat thermostats have two settings cut in cut out your cut in could be bad and not turning the compressor on till the temp reaches melting temps now if your hearing a click buzz then you need to look at the compressor and make sure the compressor fan is running but its not a defrost promblem

Kenmore

when its running how hot are the sides the starting amps are too high and 1.5 running amps ain't bad now the the cut in cut out are too high if you look on the dial that the mid point settings that's where you should have it not on 1 1 is hot set it on the straight line that's where you should do all your testing colder settings go up not down you could be overheating the compressor by making it come on too quick the freezer should be about -10 or so do you see any gaps in the gasket
