it might be the programs your using to burn your dvds try using windows dvd maker if you have the operating system vista or convert x to dvd if you have xp that should work
im assuming you have a dvd player in your car as opposed to a regular cd player
you need to look in the manual of your car stereo and see what kind of discs it can read... there are dvd+r, dvd-r, dvd-wr, dvd-ram, dvd-r (dual layer), etc, etc....
make sure your using the correct format disc and also make sure when you burn the music that your burning them in a file format compatible with your stereo (wmv, mp3, etc) check the manual
TThe player does not play this type of dvd disk! only pre-recorded movies and CDs Try hooking Up a player that plays DVD+ and DVD- disks!Hope I was of help!

The issue is the laser (actually has different diodes for blu ray, ps2 format and regular DVD.
Seems like in your case the only one that is burnt is the blu ray.
Send it back to Sony for repairs or if you do not have warranty purchase a replacement lens and install it yourself.
yes there is, there is plenty of software that will actually make any size move fit on a regular 4.7gb dvd, my definate favorite is CloneDvd2, also nero will, hope this helps and anything else i can help you with i am happy to help, also the most likely reason your dvd wont play the dual layer disc is that it doesn't support dual layer.
Newer units have protocols built into the firmware that prevent "piracy". Sometimes these new protocols will prevent a home burnt dvd from running. Hold on to the old technika as long as it will run because the newer models will not work on all of your home burnt dvds.
whilst trying to get info ,how to fix this dvd player.i put a burnt disc in and for some strange reason it worked. once started all previously dvd also ran.
