You can force a dvd player to open. If you noticed there's a small hole in your dvd player as big as a paper clip. All you need to do is to find a paper clip and use it as a key to open ur dvd player.

Disc Tray Won't Open on Philips DVD Player Model DVP5990/37: The first thing to try is unplugging and turning the unit upside down and finding the slot near the tray port location. Inside the slot you'll see a white plastic piece with a small tab. Use a small knife or ice pick, etc. to slide the tab toward the far side of the unit. This unlocks the tray and should pop it open about 1/4". Place the unit back right side up and plug back in. Hit the open button and it should either close or open depending on it's current cycle, but it should work unless the drive belt is snapped, for which you'll need to remove the outer cover and fix or replace. I'm told there are no factory replacement belts available yet for these machines, however I've used large O-ring seals in place of belts to fix other models of machines. As far as Philips support for this unit, it stinks. Their live and web help features are now useless because all of these models are now "out of warranty" and they remove detailed support postings from their website and from live help stations as soon as they are out of warranty - just when you need such help. I would not recommend any Philips product, as this is my second Philips unit I've purchased new which had serious problems just after a few uses.

You could always tape it to the bottom and or back with double sided tape this is what i've done with mine. Works great.

you have to look on the back of your dvd player to see what region your player is then you will have to check the dvds that you have from colombia and warner bros and see what are thier region.you dont have to purchase a new dvd just dont buy or rent dvds from the above mention place.if the region on the dvds of both place do not match your dvd player you will be wasting your time.good luck.
