My computer lenovo y510 don't start after an window update. I tried to reset it using the novo button but nothing happens. when you turn it on, all the light from the computer are on and then nothing happened. nothing appears on the screen or the display. absolutely black. no letters no numbers nothing. if you turn it on without the power supply cable, immediately and automatically shut down. if you turn it on, with the power supply cable all the light are on but then nothing happens. i tried to star it using the recovery lenovo cd but the cd/dvd playing stopped playing. i also i tried all the recommendations from the user manual, but again nothing happens. this computer was updated it from window vista to seven, and it was working fine, and it was downloading and installing all the updates correctly. also it didn't fell or suffer an electric shock. there is something that i would like to know? if i can not fix this computer, how can i save some very important photos. please tell me a way to save my pictures. i regret the day i bought this terrible computer i read many bad reviews of this computer online. thanks and looking forward for your response. SOURCE: can't find drivers for win 7 64-bit for lenovo y510

Hello,

Windows 7 is a new platform and every hardware manufacture is developing the driver suits for it.Meanwhile you will have to download the drivers directly from the chip manufacturers site e.g. for sound you can download it from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/.

About the chip manufacturers you can know from the Y510 page where the drivers are there for Vista or XP.

Thanks.

SOURCE: hi i have ideapad y510

Hi There!

Welcome to FixYa,

First off, if you're trying to restore this computer back to factory defaults, then the system should be turned off before pressing the OKR (One Key Recovery) button. If it fails to work (or nothing happens), then the partition where it originally resides has been corrupted over time.

The only way for you to get this resolved is to obtain a "Recovery CD" specifically for Y510. You can do it by contacting their helpdesk support and ask for the disc to be delivered to you. I have to set your expectations that their usual charge is (usually) close to $50.

I hope this helps and Thank you for using Fixya.

SOURCE: Started the BIOS update provided

You will probably have to send it to the manufacturer to have BIOS restored. When flashing the BIOS you cannot turn power off and it can take a long time to complete. You need to call the manufacturer's service. They MAY just replace the motherboard with updated BIOS. Flashing is about the most dangerous time as any power glitch will leave the BIOS in a unrecoverable condition. You may have had to wait a half an hour and NOTHING will appear to be happening during this time.

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa!

This may cause by an electrical charge in the motherboard itself,Im not really sure how it affects the display of the computer. There's also a possibility that the problem is with the LCD cable or the LCD itself. Please follow this method since it usually fix such problem like that,

1.Removed the battery then unplugged the AC adapter

2.Press and hold the power button or the ON/OFF button for at least 30 seconds

3.Connect the power supply back to your computer then turn it back on.

4. Check if you will see any difference.

5. If nothing happens, try to press and hold Fn and F2 on the keyboard.

If nothing happens, there is a possibility that the problem is with the LCD or monitor itself, maybe it will need a replacement...

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Hi sanmej01,

Based on your situation, since you already tried the novo/OKR button but you're still experiencing problem, I suspected that this is a hardware failure. I recommend to contact the technical support of Lenovo. They will set up a depot repair for you to diagnose the computer and to repair it completely. You may contact them at this number 1-877-4Lenovo (1-877-453-6686).

Windows failed to boot. I have tried booting it from the disc. Any ideas?

Try launching the One Key Recovery program.
1. Back up all files that
you wish to keep from the C: drive
2. Turn off the computer (no
flashing lights).
3. Press the Lenovo Care Button (small button with
upside down arrow or word NOVO written on it).
4. Select System
Recovery (very much different from the above mentioned System Restore).
5. Select to restore to factory default settings / initial settings.

hi

ok here may e you really dont have to worry all that much nor do you have to buy a new drive

there are many software on the net that can help you

may be you can have some disk management software like Partition manager or Partition Magic and you can change the drive space without even leaving your comfortable windows platform GUI and increase the Disk space to your choice

a word of caution though ALWAYS BACK UP BEFORE ANY ACTIVITY LIKE THIS

hope this helped
cheers
