My son's PSP will not come on. The green light comes on for a few seconds and then shuts off and nothing. He has only had the unit about 6 weeks.

Have you tried charging the unit? That exact thing happens with my PSP when it's not charged.

Thank you for your not so helpful solution. Charging the unit would be the obvious solution. Actually, the PSP is damaged or defective and is being returned to be fixed or replaced.

PSP won't turn on

You can try a hard reset. Do this hold the power switch in the upward position for over 10 seconds. This will cause the machine to reboot. Leave it alone for a few minutes then try switching it back on. You may have to flick the switch on twice to start her up again. If it still has a hard time try changing the battery for the one in your sons machine. MAKE SURE that all apps etc are closed on the PSP first and do the hard reset BEFORE you remove the battery on BOTH machines. Ensure PSP is OFF before removing battery. It is possible the battery has been overcharged or just given up. If the console operates with the other battery you know you need get a fresh one. Consider getting a high power one for extended life. Let us know how you get on. May have more info for you.

Screen stays black green light comes on for a few seconds.

This sounds like you have "bricked" your psp... there are a few things that can cause this: first would be that you have bricked it trying to install Custom Firmware, another would be that the battery died or it was shut off during an update. You can buy what is called a Pandora Battery and a "magic" memory stick which will reset your PSPs firmware to the original 1.5, or if you still have warranty you can send it in to Sony to get fixed. Pandora batteries and Magic Memory Sticks are sold in a package for about $10-15 on the internet. Good Luck, hope you fix it.

THe PSP will not fully come on....the light turns green but nothing on the screen and then after a few seconds....unit goes off???

It sounds like the firmware is corrupt. You will have to reflash it using a pandora battery and "magic memory stick". You can get one here.

Green light comes on but nothing else turns on

I'll give you the quick story of what they did. They "bricked" the PSP. This is a term used by all PSP hackers. When you try to hack the system so you can play pirated games on the system, you will occasionally get an error that causes the system to be "bricked". They use the word "brick" because once it happens, the PSP becomes as fun as a brick. You really can't do much about it. Your best bet is to call Sony and see what they can do for you. If you know anyone else that knows what they're doing with PSPs, you could always ask them to fix it for you, but Sony would be the easiest. They won't do it for free, but they will fix it for you. 1-800-345-SONY

PSP will not turn on

Have you tried ejecting your battery pack? I've had a problem like this. But I don't recall the green light coming on for 15 seconds. Anyway, try ejecting the battery pack and putting it back in. If that doesn't work, then... I tried.
