I have a posiflex jiva tp5700-5800 and the screen lights up a faded red color and then stops working all together. I can hear the touch tone when I touch it so it appears the program is running but there is nothing on the screen. Please tell me my screen is not dead.

This is due to a setting change inside the Bios. You will have to reset the Bios using the jumper options on the mainboard underneath the touch screen or remove the CMOS battery the powering the machine on.
Don't think there is any replacement card for it. The display adapter and the touch screen controller are on the same card. You can't use off the shelf vga card to replace it
There should be a calibrate program in your posiflex. If it still doesn't want to calibrate, check whether the touch screen glass is worn out / cracked since you might need touch screen replacement
Your LCD probably has a bad bulb...if it does not get brighter within an hour of being on...I would suggest you buy a refurbished orused terminal..or new one.
