A card reader is usually faster and doesn't depend upon extra power, most/nearly all pros use a card reader,
its all a question of preference I'm a keen photographer but I use my camera direct to transfer photos.

I need to find a card reader for my Fujifilm S2900's media card to USB port for Windows 7.. Where do I look?

This is a great camera. I suggest uploading the photos directly from the camera to the computer via USB cable connection. The software provided by Fuji works well but is not necessary to do an upload.

Keeping the memory in the camera is safer and ultimately more reliable then switching out and back. Static discharge and connector damage can be a problem.

Keeping the photos in memory after transfer until the PC images are confirmed and backed up provides the reliability for priceless photos. After successful transfer and backup I will erase the photos from camera memory card before the next use.

The cable provided has two uses, connection to PC and connection to TV/monitor.

See page 86 and page 60,70 in the link provided of the Fuji manual.

Hope this helps?http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/manuals/pdf/index/s/finepix_s2900_manual_en.pdf

My USB wire of the camera is lost.. could you please give me another way of uploading the pictures from camera to the computer ??

You can take SD memory card from your camera and use a card reader to upload photos to computer. If you don't have a card reader, the easiest way is to buy a new cable - any standard MiniUSB cable will fit.

You could avoid this problem by using a simple cheap SD card reader. Remove the SD card from your camera, insert the SD card in the reader and connect the reader to your PC/Laptop by a USB cable. You can then useWindows to view and upload your pictures

Camera is no longer uploading photos to the computer

I had this same problem and it is a problem with the actual camera where the usb cord plugs in. Luckily there is a cheap solution - you can go to radio shack and get a memory card reader for about $15 (or some newer advanced all-in one printers and computers already come with them) and take the memory card out and insert it into the reader. You can transfer the pics from the reader to your computer. All you need for the reader is an available USB port. It is very simple and I have found it to be a better way since it doesn't eat up batteries either.
