I need Battery Compartment Cover for .Fuji FinePix 2600 Zoom Digital Camera The catch over the batteries has broken off.

You can try to do a DIY fix by using some stick on velcro to keep the battery hatch shut. Not a cosmetic solution, but it should do the job.

Sorry just got this message okay here is a sequence for opening, closing and removing the battery.
I'm also supplying some diagrams. The battery compartment is a push type towards the outer edge of the camera body then it swings up and open.

Removing the battery there is a little catch on the one corner that needs to be released.

Digital cameras are high drain devices, regular batteries finish fast, need to use alkaline plus batteries; also take out batteries out of the camera, when not in use.

Are you using the camera to format the card ? I had a similar problem with a 3V 16MB card in my Fuji MX1200. I used the "Format" capability, oddly located in the "Trashcan"/erase mode, but it "initialized"/formatted the card with no problems or error messages after that. Hopefully you have a similar format function on your camera. The URL I'm referencing here is for the MX-1200, but you may find your camera elsewhere on this excellent site (not mine).

I've taken out the screws and the front and back still don't come apart. It appears as though there are screws under the cover of the hot shoe, but they appear to be screwed in from the bottom of the flash shoe. any suggestions

Okay,

Separating the front and rear covers of the camera is not that difficult. You'll need a good small cross point screwdriver. I do not have a 2600 in front of me, but the 2650 is similar. Remove all the screws around the sides of the camera. The top sections are snapped together. work along the back edge to undo the snap tabs. I do not remember if there is a ribbon cable attached so go easy when you remove the back half.
