. Select Services from Menu.
. Select Settings.
. Go To Connection settings and select Active service settings.
. Select Set 1 and press Activate. 5. Go to Edit active service settings.
. Key in the following:
. Settings name: MTNL GPRS
. Homepage: http://wap.mumbai.mtnl.net.in
. Session Mode: Permanent
. Connection security: Off
. Data bearer: GPRS
. Select Bearer settings.
. GPRS access point:
Postpaid enter gprsmtnlmum
For Prepaid Enter gprsppsmum
. IP address: 172.16.39.10
. Authentication type: normal
. Login type: Automatic
. User name: mtnl
. Password: mtnl123
Press Back.
Select Home in Services to start surfing WAP.

If you are a BSNL mobile subscriber and want to get Internet on your mobile through GPRS then you will need to configure your mobile for GPRS access.
But before configuring, you need to get GPRS services activated for your mobile.Earlier this year BSNL has activated GPRS on all prepaid mobiles.So you just need to configure your mobile and go surfing.Postpaid users will need to activate it as there are different plans for postpaid users.However, in case GPRS in not activated by default in your area, you can activate it by sending an SMS as follows,depending on what type of user you are.

BSNL PREPAID:

SMS GPRSPRE to 53733 .It can take 24 hrs to get activated and you will get a confirmation message after activation.

BSNL POSTPAID:



After you decide on the plan SMS GPRS49 or GPRS199 to 53733.It can take 24 hrs to get activated and you will get a confirmation message after activation.

Configuration settings for GPRS access:

After your activation is done you need to configure your mobile to get GPRS data.You have to send a message to 58355 which contains your mobile model.For example-If you have a Nokia 5800 ,SMS "Nokia N5800? to 58355.
Soon you will get WAP,Portal,GPRS and MMS settings from BSNL.Save them all to your mobile.Use either WAP or GPRS as your default access point if your mobile asks for it.

I am holding HTC touch Model P3452.Operator is BSNL ,Bihar ,India.I am a prepaid subscriber .I did the manual setting for gprs but unable to connect it reads the remote party has ended the connection.Help me what to do next. E-Mail - [email protected]

a) SMS your hand set Make & Model No to 58354. e.g. SMS 'NOKIA N70' to 58354
b) Call costumer care (1503) to get the settings.

I had the same problem in tamil nadu BSNL, all you have to do is put your sim card in another mobile Like Nokia or Motorola, since they are listed with the operators and subscibe for GPRS, once your connection is through, remove the sim and put it back to your ASus PDA, it works fine.

For BSNL South prepaid or post paid use following settings:

Start/ Settings/ Connections /GPRS

Connects to : Internet
Access point: gprssouth.cellone.in

Leave other items blank.

Start/ Settings/ Connections /Proxy

Donot creat any proxy

You donot require any thing else. GPRS will work on your mobile and also in Internet share. Internet share works with cable and bluetooth. Browse on mobile or laptop !!!

The GPRS or the WAP settings are assigned by your Service Provider. Also, they need to activate it at their end even after the settings are specified. So, my request to you would be to get in touch with your Service Provider please. Good Luck
