Hi,
The answer has to be in the connection. Your XP doesn't have the right driver set
up for the LAN or 10/100 Set up. Try removing the driver and rebooting the system.

Also once in windows try going to start -run and type in command. Once this widow is open type in >: ping www.wnd.com and see if it 'pings' the web. if not then the issue is back to the driver - modem etc.
Do other pc's access the web on the exact same set up? If yes consider validation and then try again.
You can always re-install but I think you need to check the drivers for the
net work card driver. Good Luck

Hello no1sugard, go to this "Website," and "Download the Updates" for Windows XP
(Service Pack 3)."
  • First make sure that you have [SP1 and SP2] already installed in your Computer?
  • To {check} which "Service Pack" you have already?
  • If not?
  • Then you must "Download SP1 and SP2 first!"
  • Open "the Computer Properties," by [Alt / Right] clicking on the Computer in the 'shortcut menu' of the "Start Menu."
If this information helped? Return and give a "Helpful Rating," please!

Just installed xp for a friend on an old ibm netvista 6794 NZU pc. Went to ibm website but can not find the motherboard or chipset drivers to allow this pc to acess the internet. Can anyone help please. ...

It's a big pain when you dont have the right driver. but try this:

1. download and install the Windows Service Pack 3 (XP SP 3) in the computer and check if it works.

and how are you trying to connect to the internet? you might just want to put in an extra PCI network card, if you want to use the broadband or if you need the usb ports to work, try a PCI USB card instead.

either ways, make sure you have installed SP3 in that computer.

cheers!

Emachine t3616 changed os from vista to xp pro

On one of the cds that came with your machine are the drivers that are required for all the hardware in your system.

Should you have any problems finding them they are also available here

It would be worth downloading all the drivers for that machine and installing them one by one.

Reinstalled xp after Vista . USB port not working

Hi there,

The usb drivers are part of your chipset drivers, so lets try and get this sorted. The reason that they work in Vista, is probably because Vista has added support for your chipset and XP SP2 doesn't.

Try installing XP from scratch. First you need to completely wipe your hard drive. Use the XP boot disc, you need to delete the hard drive partition as well. This way, you will start with a RAW drive.

Set up a new partition, and let the XP disc format the drive with NTFS. Do NOT use quick format. Then let XP copy the files and install.

When XP has installed, get your internet set up, and download XP Service Pack 3 from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&DisplayLang=en

You will notice that Microsoft have written not to use if updating just one machine. Ignore this. The reason is because this is the FULL Service Pack, hence it being over 300MB.

Once you have SP3 installed, your system will restart. Open Windows Update, make sure you have this set to update all Microsoft products, then download all updates. Restart your system and check if your usb's are working.

If they are still not working, go to the laptop website and download the chipset drivers from there, but make sure you are downloading the drivers for XP. If not, then go to the Chipset manufacturer's website and download from there.

Let me know how you get on

Missing sound drivers

Hi,
Windows XP or other operating systems, only provide generic or standard running drivers.
If you have On-Board sound, you,ll need to go to the manufacturers site, and download all the drivers relating to your motherboard. Also check that you have connected the sound-card and cables correctly. Or if your using a DVD Drive, that you have the lead to connect Drive To Motherboard. ** This is usually a 3 pin plug connector.
