Dear erwin,

as per your writing the server raid has broken .. its may be a problem with a hard disk , first you have to check the hard disk state . to do that you should enter into raid bios . don't try to something on that , just see the status of logical drive then which are the disks includes on that raid

in you post also it may give the details of failed disk ids

then you may have problem with your batt. unit , for that please do the above steps first then back with that...

Install new OS

Use the HP Smartstart CD and configure the with array with 2 arrays and 2 logical drives. The first with OS array on RAID 1 (2 drives mirrored). The second array on RAID 5 (3 drives minimum).

We have hp server ml370 when i restart the server its stopped on attempting boot from hard drive c and never continue

This is because either the image on the hard drive is bad (corrupted, missing boot sector, etc) or because the hard drive itself has some issue like corruption etc.
If this is a mirrored raid array (two drive mirroring each other) I would try to remove one of the drives and boot again. If that does not work reinsert and remove the other drive and try to boot.

Mike

Compaq ProLiant ML370 G4 (374490421) Server - Windows xp issues

Servers need the Drivers for the Drive array card.
The server should have come with a smartStart CD that has the drivers for it.
You are NOT going to get another OS on this machine unless you load the drivers for the adapter.
... and why put XP on a Server? that's not the optimal OS for the hardware.

The system is setup using the RAID 5 config, now out of 5 drives it says 'OK' for 3 drives on 0, 1 & 2 and for 3 & 4 it says 'Replacement'. Is there any way of finding the correct Logical sequence...

Dont you have any levelling inside the machine? Go open and check.

When you have replaced the 2 defective drives with a new one, restart the computer and Raid 5 will automatically rebuild.

Harddrive array sequence causing system in booting

If the only drive you changed was the drive that failed and all the others are in the correct sequence, then that's a good thing.

The next question is, did you have this system setup in a RAID Array and if so, what RAID configuration were you using (RAID 0,1,5, etc.)? Some RAID configurations allow you to replace a failed drive and not lose data, but I will need to know more about how you set the system up in order to help you more.
