no,,just turn the key to start her up!,,,if the engine is free to turn i gess it has a stuck starter relay or a jamed starter, or a dirty power/earth lead or joint some were
but check that this battery you charged up is any good first if the battery has been left standing in a discharged state it wont be any good any more,,try a set of "jump leads" from a good car battery!

SOURCE: toro z master 252, starts ,runs 8 to 10 min. shuts...

One suggestion wouild be to check the spark right after failure. You can buy in-line spark indicators that give you a visual light if you are getting spark. This way you could see if you are losing spark when the engine warms up. If your spark is good, you would want to check the compression after the engine is warmed up and quits. You should have at least 100# minimum.

Sometimes, the main jet to these small-engine carburetors gets clogged up. It is easy to get to. It is the brass bolt that holds the float bowl onto the carburetor body. If you remove it, gas will readily flow out, so drain the fuel by removing the fuel line and placing it into a suitable container first. Remove the bolt and exterior washer (don't lose that). Clean the bottom hole in the bolt and pay close attention to the very small holes in the smooth section near the top. Use NO metal objects to clean the orifices as they are a precision size and can't be enlarged or scraped up. Clean the float bowl also while it is off, make sure the bolt is clean and shiny and reinstall. This will assure the carb is getting fuel, providing there is no clog between the fuel tank and the carb body in the fuel line. You should pull it and blow it out, making sure it is clear also. I recommend installing an inline fuel filter on ALL 4 stroke machinery.

SOURCE: The starter won't completely turn over even though

Sometimes on the Briggs and Kohler engines, the compression release fails to operate at the proper time or is malfunctioning. A remedy for this is to remove the valve cover(s) and adjust the OH valves per the manufacturers specifications. This enables much easier starting, produces less wear and tear on the starter and may allow your new battery to completely turn that engine over. Out of adjustment valves mimic a weak or failing battery quite well and the engine hangs up on the compression stroke because the compression release system is not working properly. Adjust those darn valves.

Toro timecutter won't turn over with key

Sounds like the solenoid is bad. Most solenoids connect positive + from the battery. One side will read 12 volts (with the black wire of a test meter or test light. (The side connected to the battery). Energize the solenoid (loud click) And with the key held, check the other side for voltage. No voltage, bad solenoid. Be careful when you buy a replacement. Many look the same but do different things.

Toro Electric Start Problem

Remove spark plug and observe condition. Fouled with oil, bad motor. With plug removed pull rope several times to blow out cylinder. Spray WD40 in spark plug hole, pull rope several times see if oil blows out. Spray a lot of starter fluid in spark plug hole, replace plug. Spray starter fluid in air cleaner area of carb, try to start. Replace spark plug, try to start. Ensure oil is full, all mowers have a low oil sensor now. 30w oil. Always use Stabile in gas.

Test the battery with a volt/ohmn meter to ensure it reads at least 12-14 volts. Check all the safety switches located underneath the seat & the mower deck engage handle is disengaged. Check all battery wire connections are soldi, not corroded. Check wiring on starter solenoid from battery & to key switch.
