Since your D-Link 2640 is a modem + router it may not work the way you intend.
You need just a wireless router without modem.
Run a small Ethernet patch cable from your Paradyne modem into the WAN port on your router, you can plug your existing Ethernet cable into one of the other LAN ports on the router, then access the router setup using the computer connected to the Ethernet cable using a browser and putting the router's IP address into the address line of your browser. It will most likely be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.
Once you have configured the Wi-Fi router you will have your wireless network. Full instructions should come with the router.
Routers are available for as little as $29.95 but expect to pay closer to $79.95 for satisfactory speed and capability.
Basically if your Internet service is DSL or cable it's just a plug and play. Just plug the computer to the modem once the Internet access has been activated by your ISP and your computer should automatically get connection from the modem.
Paradyne is manufactured by ACCULINK I found a manual but unfortunatey it does not download or open due to an error http://office.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/paradyne/3160a3_3161b3_3164a2_3165a2.html I have reported it to the webmaster of this site. But perhaps in the meantime contact paradyne
If you connect by using LAN port (RJ 45) you don't have to install driver. However USB connection will require driver. Do you have Ethernet adapter installed to you iMAC? If you have it will be resolved easily without using USB port. Check the following link for connection instructions http://www.fixya.com/support/p200812-paradyne_6211_a2_200_router/manual-18800/page-18
If physical connection is successful you can go to internet browser type 192.168.1.1 and check your modem's settings. Please post if you need further assistance
Hi,
If I understand you right, what you want is to use your Paradyne 6211 modem to share the Internet connection to 2 PCs. One is connected through the USB and the second through Ethernet port.
Tried it on a Siemens 4200 and a Prolink Hurricane 9000, both worked and can be done. To be sure, the IP settings of the PC connected via Ethernet was set to manual configuration. In your case try IP 192.168.1.3, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway 192.168.1.1, DNS Servers - whatever your ISP are using. You of course can try and see if it works in your modem.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
as far as i think your system has not install modem as your isp line support so frist install the modem which your isp line needed
go control penal >phon and modem >add modem from the list and apply ok
