You will need to connect the charger that was issued with the power chair to a working electrical outlet (do not use an extension cord or power bar/strip), turn it on and connect the other end to the power chairs' charging receptacle. Keep it connected for 8-12 hours or until the light on the charger indicates the batteries are charged.
If the charger indicates the batteries are charged but the charge does not last more than 1-2 hours, they batteries may have gone bad, are worn out and need to be replaced.
Good luck!

The only time the chair worked [approx. 1/2 hour] was when the repairman cleaned the cables. Since that, the chair charges, turns green for full charge, and only flashes red as soon as the joystick is...

hi.

the link below is for the owners manual for the quickie aspire power wheelchair, free download in pdf format.
http://www.wheelchair-review.co.uk/wheelchair-files/wheelchair-manuals/sunrise-medical-wheelchairs/quickie-aspire-power-wheelchair.pdf
the "cane crutch holder" is an acessory part that you can get, fitted to the back of the seat, to hold a crutch or cane. it does not affect the chair itself at all.
there are two most likely reasons for your problem, neither of which actually involve the arm and controller.
1. if the battery light is flashing 9 times when you try to move, then you need to check the motor locks are engaged properly. see page 27 of the manual for photos and location. these are also known as "freewheel levers" and allow you to disconnect the motors to push the chair manually. if the levers are engaged properly, it is quite possible that the switch, or switch wires have broken and the chair thinks that they are off. these are very cheap and easy to replace and are located where the lever connects inside the chair.

2. if the battery light comes on and stays on, then you may need to have the batteries checked. if the batteries have not been charged for a while then sulphur may have built up on the lead plates inside the battery. this can mean that the batteries will show fully charged, but as soon as you try to draw power, they cannot function due to the sulphur, and instantly show as flat.
any auto shop should be able to perform a battery load test for you to test this. a 100amp load test for about 6 seconds will test the battery performance and let you know if they need replacing. most places will do this test for free but the batteries need to be fully charged first.

hopefully, one of these solutions will work as these are the most common fault for the symptoms you are describing. you should find the manual quite useful as well.

please feel free to ask if you need more information.

hope this helps

Do not know if chair is taking a charge lights just keep moving across armrest .how do u tell when fully charged?

hi let me see if i can help ,

When the lights go back and forth on your joystick that means the chair knows its pluged in .Now the chair itself has a built in charger that is mounted on the back of your chair .The back of the chair ,there is a opening a cutout in the frame .when you plug in your chair there will be a red light and a yellow ,yellow means the chair is charging, wait till it turns green, this means fully charged. When you plug in the chair youll see the lights through that hole.Look for the lights.

I recommend my customers to leave there chair charging over night look at the light it will be green when you turn the chair on the joystick should show fully charge.

Good luck hope i was of some help.

I have a brand new power chair I want to know if the on/off switch is turned on or off to recharge chair ???

The chair needs to be off when you charge it. If you do leave it on by accident that is OK also.

Someone gave me a pronto m51 sure step motorized wheelchair but no manual was given..my question is: Is it safe to charge the battery overnight? Is there any danger of overcharging? If anyone knows for...

Jo, nope you are safe. Most of the chargers are designed to cut off and go into trickle charge once they sense that the batteries are fully charged. The problem with overcharging comes after 18 hours or so. You should never leave the charger plugged into the chair for more than 24 hours. On the M51 the charger is built into the chair so just plug it in when you go to bed and unplug it when you get up and you'll be ok. You can check for full charge by looking at the charger there should be a red light and a green light when fully charged. Hope this helps

When i try to charge my wheelchair nothing happens at all nothing. i don't know if it's the battery or the charger

Has the power chair been stored for a while? If so, the batteries may be damaged and notaccepting the charge. Try to replace the batteries and see if that solves the problem.

How do i know when my invacare pronto m5 is fully charged?

With an M51, a full charge will be indicated by all three joystick indicator lights lit- red yellow green. The green far right LED is the full charge light. Also the charger has indicator lights that go from red/yellow to full green at full charge. Hope this helps

I have a Jazzy power chair on loan and there is no instructiion book. How do I recharge the chair? I know I plug it in but do nmot know if it is actually recharging, Thanks

Be sure to charge the chair at least 8 hours each time. If you use it charge it. If you charge it less than 8 hours than it starts taking away from the life of the battery.

How do I charge My Pronto M51 motorized wheelchair?

Margie,   Yes you may charge it overnight. If you use it everyday, charge it every night. Once the charger senses 24 volts it stops sending a charge,so they cannot be overcharged.  I suggest when you go to bed put on the charger and unplug it when you get up in the morning.
