Okay, I'm not sure if my camera got wet or what but it has a white screen with lines through it when you try to turn it on and it won't change no matter what setting it's set to. Also, everytime you try to turn it on, the lens opens and closes frantically. Is there any way this can be fixed?

hello lmsmith, the reason the lens protection shutter does not close, is that it is either jammed by sand, dirt or sticky substance. it is going to need cleaning by a qualified technician.

to open them completely simply push them with your finger. try doing so also when closing them. i have the same issue sometimes.

Hi,
While you are turning the camera on, hold the lever which you use for zooming in. The lens should extend before you get the annoying message about turning the the camera off and on. Then, gently apply pressure to the lens as if you wanted to push it back to the camera. While you are doing this, turn the camera off (lens should come back into the body of the camera). This will solve your problem.
