hi, may be he is write. its a regular complaint with dvd players. in dvd players spindle motor (on which the cd rotates) will get damaged, its winding will get shorted. this will cause not reading of discs. replace the same. u can use any type of spindle motor using in portable dvd players. ok
the only way is cleaning the optic reader.Just wet in alcohol a swab -almost dry- and clean it.If this does not fix the problem, you may have to replace it.
You'd need to open the unit, and the problem is either that the laser and the tray are misaligned, which can be tricky to fix even, or worse, you need a new laser. Either way, the Polaroid dvd player may not be worth getting repaired if it is no longer under warranty.
either needs to be clean or the REGION needs to be set up to 1 or ALL , LETS TRY WITH cleaning the OPTICAL LENS with a dry Q tip , gently rub a few strokes at the lens , and give it a try, if NOT then try to set the REGION to 1 or all, if still not reading the disc , then have to replace the optical lens, good luck , AJ
You might try gently cleaning the laser eye with soft dry Q-tip. Other wise the laser will probably need replacing. I repair and sell portable DVD players.
I had the same problem, which I attributed to having the plug in a power strip. Once I plugged it directly into the wall socket, I haven't had a problem since.
