Hello,

There are quite a few reasons the DVD tray in your laptop might fail to open when you hit the eject button. About the worst thing it can be is if the motor or gear train failed, which would mean replacing the drive. If the disc in the drive plays OK, you know that the power and the connector are fine.

To open your DVD drive, there is a tiny hole on the draw in which to insert a paperclip to manually eject the draw, you will see a small hole by the side of your dvd drive, insert a tiny paper clip or pin inside the hole to manually eject your DVD. Once the This is done, the dvd drive will be open and you can remove your dvd.

Take care.

I'm having problems with my compaq sr5000 desktop.

Is there any message that appears when you turn the computer on? Does anything post to the monitor during the boot process? Normally if the Video Card goes bad and the monitor works you will get a No Signal message on the Monitor. So you are so sure the monitor works, huh?

Since you went inside the computer check and make sure you pushed the Video Card (where the monitor plugs into the back of the computer) into the slot all the way.

Maybe your Power Supply is not working. When you press the power button do the fans start running and you hear the disk drive spinning? Just because you see a light at the the power button or on the motherboard does not mean the Power Supply is working correctly. I just changed one that did that.

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting. You didn't by chance remove the Heat Sink and CPU while you were removing the fan did you? If you did, you probably need to apply a fresh coat of Thermal Past between the Heat Sink and CPU.

Help! how do I open the DVD slot on my Dell 3100C Desktop? When I press the button to the side of the slot a green light comes on but the DVD thingy doesn't open.

You should be able to stick a paper clip in the little hole on the front of the drive and push in ,then it should eject the disc. Hope that this helps you out..

I am trying to install Window office 2007 and it say "You must be an administrator to install office 2007" What do I do?

I hope I can help!

Now, depending on whether you are installing this from a Dvd or downloaded file, it will be a little bit different. Basically, all this error means is that your account does not have the "rights" to install this program. The fix is actually very easy. If you are installing from a DvD:
1. Open "My computer/computer"
2. Right click on the installation DvD and click "explore"
3. In the new window that opens up you should see a file called "setup.exe."
4. Right click on it and click "run as administrator," click "ok" or "yes" when asked

If you are installing from a downloaded file, just right click on it and "install as administrator"
That really should do it; if it doesn't go ahead and comment!

I hope that helps!
