I have an actiontec router and cant set my nat type to open. If i turn off nat i cant get on xbox live. It says in the actiontec website for my router that i have to do something with port forwarding to get my nat type to open for modern warfare 2. Please help i need it badly

Factory reset the router, 98% of time solves problem with Xbox, you shouldnt have to configure and thing after the factory reset, just reconnect via ethernet or wifi. you hold down the reset button on the back of the router for 12+ seconds while the router is turned on. wait 1-2 minutes for reboot

NAT STRICT

Step 1 : Connect Router - Computer

Step 2 : open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar of internet explorer (Default Password is Admin )

Step 3 : Click Applications and Gaming

Step 4 : Click DMZ

Step 5 : Select Enable and Give the IP Address of the XBOX/PS3/Wii in it

Step 6 : Click Save settings

Step 7 : Unplug the Power cord from the router and turn Off XBOX /PS3/Wii

Step 8 : Plug the power cord back to the router and wait till the lights are Solid

Step 9 : Turn on the Xbox/PS3/Wii

Step 10 : Test the Connection

try turnig off all restrictions related. like , S.P.I. (statefull packet inspection) and try setting firewall setting for the address of the Xbox to "DMZ" . check setting of M.T.U. in router, adjust it to 1580

Check out this website. It has set by set instructions on how to set change the NAT type to open. You have to open certain ports for xbox live which are also listed.

You Will Have to Disable the Firewall In Your modem / Router

And IF it is a router then Open The Ports

• TCP 80
• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
• UDP 53
• TCP 53


And also make sure that UPnP is enabled

Make sure your NAT is set to open. If it's restricted you may not be able to connect to alot of your friends or games. You can change this by accessing your router through an internet browser.

The NAT is set to the actiontec modem/router so the next troubleshooting is to open the ports of the XBox ports 80, 3074, 53 TCP and 88, 3074, 53 UDP. To allow the XBox on the network using your modem/router.

You can contact NETGEAR support to help you open the NAT settings. ( they know how to do it )
