Freezer alarm keeps going off..

Fridge seems to be fine but the freezer frosts up, freezer alarm goes off until you reset (goes off again in 1 hour) or unplug at mains (stops for 5 hours). THe technician has been round several times & replaced front electronic panel where you adjust the temperature, freezer seal but problem is stil there. I defrosted the 'frost free' freezer several times but it re-frosts within a week... the alarm is driving me crazy... any ideas?

Temp Alarm going off, when freezer seems to be cooling fine.

You need to check the temp in the freezer to make sure it's down to around 10 degrees. The alarm will go off much above that.

Fridge not cooling and freezer intermittent

your defrost cycle is every 10 to 12 hours depending on how old the defrost timer is. if your building up frost on rear wall of freezer section then your problem will be that your units defrost cycle has failed. you turning it off lets the frost melt in return you are restoring air flow over the evaporator. ohm out your defrost heater and defrost bi-metal. could be defrost timer.

Zanussi Electrolux frost free fridge/freezer - freezer defrosting

My husband left the freezer door open a couple of months ago, causing ice to form. The loud rattling noise was the fan hitting the ice. The reason why the temperature started to rise but the noise stopped was because the fan had got stuck in a block of ice and was no longer working. Simple solution - defrost the freezer for 24 hours. Touch wood, it is all working fine now!

Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refridgerator

I just went through this with my refridgerator and actually posted one of the questions. Here is what I found ........

In the freezer compartment behind the panel there is an evaporator fan which pulls cold air from the freezer and pushes it up into the refrridgerator compartment. If the fan is not working it is one of three things.. 1) there is so much frost in the fan area the fan blade is stopped and cannot push the cold air into the refridgerator compartment or the air channel is blocked. 2) there is no electricity going to the fan (usually tied to the door switch of the refirdgerator compartment, and 3) the motor is dead and will have to be replaced.

Solution to #1 - defrost but there is another problem in the "frost-free" part of the system which must be addressed or the frost will return and it will happen again in the future.

Solution #2 - check to see there is power to the fan. (most are 110VAC but some are 100VDC. Use a meter and check)

Solution #3 - If there is power, the motor is dead. Replace the motor. Be aware that AC and DC motors are different and replace per manufacture's specifications.

Freezer works fine...refrigerator section

Have you noticed more frost in the freezer than usual? It sounds like you may have moisture building up and freezing around evaporator fan. The fan blade hitting ice will cause the buzzing until it stops it completely or the evaporator clogs with frost and blocks airflow. If you have frost on food in freezer, check the door seals and make sure nothing is keeping doors from closing completely if you release them about 6" from cabinet.
