My pump has stopped working. It keeps tripping out the breaker box. What should I look at first to troubleshoot........pump is about 10 years old and is a Jacuzzi 3/4 HP for an outdoor pool. Also what could I expect to pay to replace if I am unable to repair?

SOURCE: how do you get the impella of a jacuzzi lr

looking at he face of the impeller turn counter clockwise, with a large set of CHANNELLOCK 20" Pliers Channel Lock Model 480 cost about $70.00 there is a notch on the back of the motor shaft for ether a 1/2 or 7/16 open end wrench to fit in to hold the rotor from turning. warning ! these pumps are hard to find parts for so you want to have the right tool so you don't break anything. your best bet is to bring it to your local pool pump motor repair guy and have him do it, if its just the seal you are trying to replace it should be a $20 job
if'n i was any help vote ... thanks ..jay .. and prime the pump after a repair !

SOURCE: Do Magnum Force Pumps have a reset switch ?

No jacuzzi magnums do not have a reset button. First make sure breaker to pool is off, then remove rear motor cover, and take a look. Popping noise sounds like an arked wire. Could be a bad terminal or just aloose power wire. JACUZZI PUMPS ARE GOOD QUALITY, AND USSUALLY RUN FOR MANY YEARS. Pump can be removed for repaair, or motor replacemant by a qualified, and republe pool shop, for rebuilding Ussually rebuilding is about half the cost of new. Kirk

SOURCE: pump stops running on high speed

You have a magnetek motor and it is overheating and cycling its thermal overload. A local electric motor repair shop may be able to fix it however it will likely need to be replaced. It is to costly to repair the motor if the damage is in the windings.

Assuming at that low a horsepower it is 115V, the likely replacement motor is a catalog #BN37. We sell it for $157. You are usually better off replacing the seal when you replace the motor and most Jacuzzi pumps are either a 200 or 1000. They should be around $5.

Frigidaire electric stove does not work at all

First check the breakers at your house's breaker box. A tripped breaker will be a little bit away from on. Push it all the way off, and then back on. If it trips again, call an electrician.

Tripping circuit breaker

Hi Kathy
Sometimes when a breaker keeps tripping, it will wear and will be in need of replacement...try replacing the breaker and see if that solves your problem.
If not then check the amps on the pump and make sure the breaker is able to hand the amperage the pump is requiring.

Pool pump breaker tripping

1) Not likely the timer is problem, unless there was fire or overheating in timer box. Use nose and eyes to inspect for signs of high heat.

2) Eliminate timer as suspect:
Move wires on timer to test if timer relays have gone bad.
Move terminal 4 to terminal 3
Move terminal 2 to terminal 1
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html#T104

3) Check watt rating of Hayward pump, and voltage.
1Hp motor at 240Volt draws 8 amp, and can draw 6 to 8 times that amount when starting. Up to 100 feet, should be at least 12 gauge wire and double-pole 20 amp breaker. Over 100 feet, 10 gauge wire and 30 amp double-pole breaker is best.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Color-codewire.html#motor

4) Intermatic T104 240V timer is rated 40 amps
Can safely handle 1 Hp motor without nearing heat-rating capacity of timer

5) Make sure the motor is wired correctly for 240Volts.
If motor is wired for 120, and 240 is applied, then tripped breaker can result.

Torpedo pump...I have one when I plug it in...it trips breaker

I had the exact same issue. I left mine out for the winter and when I plug it in, the breaker trips. My warranty was up so my friend took it apart. The seal had broken alowing water to leak into the bottom the pump where the wires connect to top of motor. This is supposed to be water free and is protected by several seals.

I am currenlty trying to put sealant where the cord goes into unit to stop water from going in. I will let you know how that works.

One tip my friend recommeded is to make sure there is no stress on the cord as it appears this seal is weak and and kind of stress will break it. hope this helps -- Rob
