Connect the power cord and turn on the projector. When it's in standby mode, press the following keys on the remote in this order for less than 5 seconds each. RESET left arrow right arrow enter
The projector's lamp cover might not be securly on or you might need a new one, or the projector has blown a fuse that can be replaced other wise it could be your projector but be sure to contact your sony dealer first.
It could be that you have put the projector into emergency mode. If this is the case you can only switch it on by moving the small switch by the leg tilt underneath, and then maually open the lamp cover by turning the adjuster with a coin, see page 48 of the manual for instructions. Hopw this helps
I have had the same problem with 3 Sony VPL-EX1s and Sony will not answer emails regarding the problem. Hence I wont be purchasing Sony projectors again.
To reset the lamp timer: 1) With the projector plugged in and turned off, press the 'ON/STANDBY' button to put the projector in 'STANDBY' mode. NOTE: You have to press the button on the projector itself, you cannot use the remote for this step (this is not clear in manual). 2) Now, using the remote, press the following keys in order: RESET, <--, -->, ENTER. 3) Timer should now read '0'.
Make sure the interlock switch is activated by the cover of the lamp. Can't measure a voltage with the lamp cover open. High voltage is powering the lamp from an smps or ballast supply. If lamp is New, cover switch is good, then the lamp power supply could be faulty.
