My PC won't allow me to right click to choose the eject option for a CD. I want to know if there is a way to remove the CD manually.

There are three options, depending on what may be wrong with the system.

1 - Click the eject button which is located on the CD bay door.
2 - Go into computer on the machine itself, Right click on the drive letter for the CD and choose eject
3 - Use a small paper clip inserted into the eject port on the CD ROM and release it manually.

Hope this helps.

1. Press "inward" gently against the CD drive cover, if there is no eject button on it or next to it on the body of the computer.
2. The drive should pop open and allow you to remove the CD.
3. Failing that, click open the computer icon. The CD drive should be one of the drives showing in the window.
4. Right click, using your mouse, on the CD drive icon.
5. One of the options in the pop up window will say Eject.
6. Click on it. The drive should open and allow you to remove the CD.

If this is a windows 7 install, have you tried going to Windows Explorer, then right click on the drive that represents your CD drive, and see if there is an "Eject" option. Otherwise on many newer CD drives, there is a very small hole next to the eject button. To open it manually stick a paper clip into the hole right next to the eject button. There will be a little resistance because this is a manual release to open it.

1. Open the Computer window on your PC: Either double-click the Computer icon on the desktop, or open the Start menu and choose Computer.

2. Click the DVD drive icon: Clicking the icon selects that drive.

3. Right click on it and choose 'Eject' from the drop-down list.

OR
Try the following only if the above steps didn't work or in times of urgency, such as when the computer is locked up (or turned off), you can manually eject a disc/cd by pushing a straightened paper clip into the tiny hole (the "beauty mark") on the front of the DVD drive.

CD/DVD Drive Tray problems
There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

CD Drive Tray problems

Two ways. First is click on "computer" and then right-click on the CD icon and choose "eject"
Second way--put the end of a large paper clip in the little hole in the CD tray and push it in about 1/2" or so. That will start the drawer to open. Then grab it and pull it the rest of the way. (this will work with the computer on or off_

• First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
• If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
• Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
• If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
• Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
• Open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
• Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
• Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
• Restart the computer while holding down Command-Option-O-F, to enter the Open Firmware prompt. Type "eject cd" without the quotes, and press return. The disk ought to eject. To start into OS X, type "mac-boot" without the quotes. Press return, and the computer will continue with the startup. (This will not work on an Intel Mac. There is no Open Firmware on Intel Macs. )
• If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

CD Stuck in Device
