Microphone problems With my Compaq Presario Desktop, I am using Intex Microphone for voice and Packard Bell Speakers to listen. While on gtalk/ymsg, I can hear what the other person is telling but when I speak, they cant hear me that side. I have changed all the backend pins but with no joy. Can you please help. Thing to note is : If I speak in the microphone, i can hear the sound in the my speaker also but the person on the other hand cannot. Many thanks for help ! Cheers.

Go to your control panel in windows, you can get there from the start menu no matter what version you are on.

In the control panel, double click on Sound. In the new window, click on file and settings... or advanced I cant remember exactly which as I am using vista. There you should be able to select "Recording". Click ok.

Now you should be able to see where it says microphone, with a volume bar and so on. Put a check in the "Mute" box. This will not completely mute the microphone, it should only make it to where you will no longer hear it on your speakers.

Try talking to your friends now... It should work! I hope this helped to fix your problem, if not, let me know and we can try something else.

My compaq presario c700 xp microphon are muted.how to unmuted microphone.

Select the volume icon in the lower tool tray (looks a small speaker) then right click it - select "audio Properties" then "voice" - make sure the correct microphone is selected under "Voice Recording". This will also let you see the volume setting etc and is very easy to work out what is going on - there is even a hardware check option that will let you try the microphone after changing any settings.

I recently connected a Packard Bell 1020 monitor with mounted speakers to my Compaq 85000 tower. I had external speakers that worked prior to this, and I cannot get the packard bell mounted speakers to...

You need a driver for your Compaq's audio card. You can input the exact model number at the site linked below to retrieve the one you need.

I?m facing a problem with built-in microphone that its not working after i install XP.

Try going to the control panel,
  1. click on sound's and audio device's,
  2. in the sound's and audio device's propertie's box click the voice tab at the top,
  3. under voice recording check to see if the internal mic is checked in the voice recording, default device box,
  4. if it is click the volume box, a new box will appear that say's recording control,
  5. make sure the microphone has a check in the box,
  6. under microphone click the advanced tab,
  7. in the advanced tab make sure the microphone boost has a check in the box,
  8. go back to the sound's and audio device's propertie's box under the voice tab,
  9. at the bottom of the box under voice click on test hardware,
  10. on some built in microphone's you have to talk into the area where the mic is located on the laptop.
  11. if it does'nt help try using the device manager to resolve the sound issue's, check to see if the device is enabled, if it is use the troubleshooting tab to see if the device has a conflict, if it's working properly it will say this device is working properly, or try using the update driver tab.
