My Singer Futura worked perfectly until the other day. Now every time I open my software on my computer and connect my sewing machine to my computer it just says Connection Error Please make sure the usb cord is connected & try again. There's no help in the manual for this issue. I have tryed uninstalling and reinstalling the software two times. When I plug in the usb cord for the sewing machine, a pop up comes on my computer saying "new hardware" but I've installed the drivers for this machine. I've even installed the update on www.singerco.com can you help me?
My experience follows: If operating system is Windows Vista go to Singer Futura web site and down load a patch. Make sure you read and get the right one...This worked for me on one computer operating Vista...However, my laptop that is operating on Windows 7 and doesnt have the patch yet...from what I have read it is in the works waiting to be approved by Microsoft - Very Frustrating!
I called Singer and they had me download the CE-250 patch (even though I have the 150) with the machine off and USB unplugged. Now my computer detects the machine, drivers, etc. Might be worth a try if anyone else is searching the net (like me) for solutions to this problem! Good Luck!
Some computers recognise peripherals at different stages.
For instance I can turn my printer on at any time and the computer recognises it, however I have to turn my scanner on before the computer. Try alternatives with your sewing machine i.e plug sewing machine in via usb then turn on, then turn on computer if no luck try the other way round.
I recently bought the Futura 250 to do a simple logo embroidery on some prototypes, unfortunately I also experienced error codes, components not functioning as described in the set up guide, and a lot of frustration! We even had our programmer who designs products and runs computerized manufacturing equipment in the shop take a look at it. Thank goodness he found a solution that solved all of our error codes and eased our frustrations - take it fishing and use it for a boat anchor because that is all its good for! We'll we didn't do that because the machine was brand new but it did go back to the store - Singer will not be on the list of brands for our replacement machine.
Same problem here..... ready to throw the sewing machine in the trash! I have tried plugging it in, turning it on & off every way imaginable! I tried the sewing machine on another computer, same message! Called the Geek squad, Singer (many times), talked to a computer guy... it won't even recognize the program at all now. I stayed with Singer because it was "Singer" what a tragic financial and stressful decision. I wish I had just gone with Bernina to begin with!
The easiest way I deal with this is to (1) be sure you plug the connection cable into the same usb port each time, some computers are touchie about this and (2) i plug in the machine before turning on the computer and it will find the machine
I just bought a Futura CE 250 and as soon as I started to sew it stopped and gave a E1 error code! I searched the net for answers and found a few. But the one that worked for me was to get rid of the SINGER 90/14 needle and put a Shmetz universal 90/14 needle in. Works like a dream now!!!
It is possible we are ALL using the SINGER needles that come with the machine and they are no good (or something)Thats why we all are having the same problem!
It appears that the right needle for the material/application may be the answer also!
HOPE THIS HELPS!!
I just had this same problem and tried the above - didn't fix it. So, I put the software into the CD drive and re-connected the usb from the sewing machine to the computer. Windows then prompted me to allow it to install the hardware (this really means install the little program that is called a driver which allows your computer to talk to a piece of hardware.) Windows found the driver on the CD all by itself and within minutes, I was ready to go. Why did our machines do this?? Probably a Windows update recently erased the info need by the computer, so it had the re-install the driver for the sewing machine.
Worked for me - I hope it works for you!

I had reloaded the software three times now - have Windows Vista - with no luck. Still says I need a device driver. Do I just keep trying to reload the Singer software - and how many more times. Getting very frustrated. Thanks
