Harman Kardon HK695 computer speakers

I read your fixya today, found the hidden screw but that didn't resolve the problem: I still can't separate the base and I can't find any other screws or retainers. Any further suggestions?

Just opened mine up, take all the screws out from the bottom including the hidden screw under the middle rear rubber stud and remove the black plastic round cover. Then open the mesh and remove the subwoffer. Opens like a charm!

In addition to all the screws mentioned in the bottom of the speaker, the HK695 has an internal brace that runs the length of the case and provides a support bracket for the speaker. To separate the halves of the sub woofer, carefully use a paperclip or something similar to hook the screen over the speaker and pull it off. Once the speaker is exposed, remove the four screws, pull out the speaker and disconnect the speaker wires. Remove the speaker. At this point, the halves will separate enough for you to disconnect the two multi-connector electrical cables that run from the circuit board in the base to the circuit board in the top. Once that is done the case will come apart.

Pull harder perhaps? Hard to say. I got fed up and threw my speakers away, complained to dell, and then to the BBB.

How many screws have you taken out? Did you remove the top cap as well? Did you pull the fuse out?

I'm getting a gargling or hissing sound that comes in and out of my Harman Kardon HK695-01. I can still play music it through it, but the sound is annoying.

Hi there,
Please check if you have the sound cable plugged tightly in the port.
Check if the same problem happens on a different speaker or another music source. (this will determine if you have grounded sound port or grounded speakers).
Try reinstalling the sound driver of your pc.
Hope this helps!

Are there Windows 7 (64-bit) drivers for a Harman Kardon HK695 speaker system? The speakers were originally purchased for a Windows XP desktop computer in 2002; and, I want to put them on a newer year...

They are speakers and therefore do not require a drive, well, I have never seen speakers that require one anyways. Your sound card is what needs drives but as long as you have the right connection (3.5mm jack) to plug into your speaker port the speakers should just work. If you need a specific program for advanced controls of the speakers then I would recommend going to the manufacturers website for downloads.

The problem is that you need the satallite speakers , they have the volume control on them which thats why you only hear the subwoofer.. yes , i tried other speakers to it and no sound either. So you will need the satellite speakers it come with.. good luck!!
