What have you tried, wifi, ethernet? Here's something I found with a Google search:
First, make sure your laptop is 'not' connected to the modem/router via an Ethernet cable and follow the steps:
1. Go to "Control Panel".
2. Next go to "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing".
3. Now click on "Manage Wireless Networks".
4. On this screen, remove all wireless connections by "right clicking" on it and select "Remove network" from the drop down menu.
5. After doing this, close the open windows and reboot the computer.
6. Once the computer is fully reloaded, scan for the "Wi-Fi networks".
7. Click on the available network that you want to access and select "connect".
8. It takes a moment, but then you will be asked to give a password for your Wi-Fi connection. Type in the password and click the "connect" button.
It should now be connected.
NOTE: If this doesn't work, you may want to reset your modem/router, and then once it is fully loaded again, repeat the above steps.
If this doesn't work, test seeing if your laptop will connect via Ethernet. If so, then your WiFi card may be going. You can either look to replace it/have it replaced, or get an external (plugs in via USB) WiFi card.
Follow the below mentioned steps :
1.
Connect the Samsung cell phone and computer. If you are connecting via USB, connect one end of the USB cable to your Samsung phone and the other end to your computer. It may take a few seconds for the proper drivers for the Samsung phone to install. If pairing via Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Samsung phone and start a search for devices on your Bluetooth-enabled computer by right-clicking the Bluetooth icon in your taskbar.
2
Launch Internet Sharing, found in the Start menu on your Samsung cell phone. Open the application.
3
Configure Internet Sharing. The status menu should read "Disconnected." Under the PC Connection setting, select the method you will use to connect your cell phone to the computer--USB and Bluetooth PAN are the choices. You shouldn't need to change anything under Network Connection, unless a network other than is showing on the display.
4
Start the Internet Sharing connection. On your Samsung device, press the Connect soft key. It may take up to 30 seconds for the connection to be negotiated, during which the status line may say "Check USB cable connection"; this is normal.
5
Connect the computer to the Internet sharing phone. If your computer and phone are paired via USB, no further pairing is needed. You will see the shared Internet connection as a wired connection in your Network and Sharing control panel on the computer. If you are connected to the Internet Sharing application via a Bluetooth personal area network, the computer must be synced to the phone. Right-click on the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar and select "Connect to a PAN" or similar, based on the version of Windows you are using. A list of all Bluetooth PAN connections within range is shown; select your Samsung phone. The PAN connection will be negotiated, and the Internet connection will be shared.
Connect the Samsung cell phone and computer. If you are connecting via USB, connect one end of the USB cable to your Samsung phone and the other end to your computer. It may take a few seconds for the proper drivers for the AT&T Samsung phone to install. If pairing via Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Samsung phone and start a search for devices on your Bluetooth-enabled computer by right-clicking the Bluetooth icon in your taskbar.

Depending on where you are, you should normally need to subscribe with an internet provider. They will provide you with a modem/router for you to connect to your computer. Connection to your computer is normally directly to the router via a network cable or via a wireless network if this is available.
Some countries or establishments (cafe, libraries, etc.) offer free internet connections so if you do not need to connect from home and are an infrequent user, this option should suffice. The Sony Vaio should be capable to connect to any of the options above.

XBOX 360 will only work properly with a 'genuine' USB WIFI adapter designed specifically for it (and at an over inflated price IMO!). One popular way to play 'network' via the internet is to connect the XBOX 360 to your PC via Ethernet cable and have the PC connecting to the internet either via another ethernet connection or more likely via a Wifi connection which could be via your USB adapter connected to your PC and talking to your Wifi Router)
Connect the router directly via lan to your computer.
goto setup of the router: usuallly via the ip-adress of your router (see manual, usually: 192.168. ***.*)
Now look at the network security-settings .
i) Click on Start button ---->Select option Control Panel------>Select Network Connections-----> a new window appears showing the "internet connections icon " Such as:
Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3 and since you are not connected it will show this icon as:
eg1: Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3 Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled VIA compatible Fast Ethernet
in this case u can download VIA network drivers....from internet..
or
eg2: Local Area Connection 1 or 2 or 3 Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled Realtek RTL8139 Family Fast Ethernet NIC
in this u can download "Realtek RTL8139" network drivers.... from internet(which is showing model no: RTL8139 through google search engine )
(OR)
ii) Click Start button ---->Select RUN option ----> type in the text box devmgmt.msc --->Select Network Adapters....
but this will show wheter ur network adapter or NIC is VIA or Realtek or......but doesnt show the correct Model NO: of VIA or Realtek....
