4.1 speakers on vista!!

Hi I have a m2n-e motherboard with an on board sound card. I have Soundmax running as my audio utility, and I've fiddled with the settings like... Quadraphonic, 5.1, 7.1 and even stereo, but nothing works! My problem is that only my rear speakers work but everything else is played through the Subwoofer. I've tried looking everywhere and now I'm just desperate! Help me pleeeeease!

Your board has ADI(Soundmax) sound. There is no support for Soundmax anymore. You may want to check into why your sound card gives you rotten sound and/or check into another brand/type of sound card. What kind of card do you have and did you get the most recent drivers for it?

ASUS P4P800 MX Motherboard sound problem with vista. i want its driver compatiable with vista

Hi hswdnn,
Asus does not support Vista drivers for the P4P800-MX board. However you may be able to download SoundMAX Vist compatable drivers for your Asus board. Click on this link;
http://www.alphadownloads.com/drivers/sound-multimedia-drivers/asus-sound-max-audio-driver-v--a-860.html
If this fails you can try any number of other sites listed in this google search;

Good luck hswdnn!

Audio driver problem

You should install the Chips drivers or intall all the driver in series listed in your CD Utilities. Its good if you download the latest drivers of your system at www.asus.com or here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

You should download for 64x2 drivers.

5.1 surround problem

Hi Zamorano,

sounds like your problem could be either with the wiring of your speakers, or the receiver. How long have you had them?

check the wiring going from the sub woofer to the speakers- do you see any creases or damaged (frayed) looking wires?if you fiddle with the wiring where it connects to the speakers or sub when you play music, do you hear the speakers act up? if so, you may have the problem right there. I'd also try fiddling with it where it connects to your soundcard, moving it, and twisting it *gently* to see if you experience the same.

if you at any time hear the speakers acting up when doing this, then you have your problem right there. (from there, you should considering purchasing replacement cabling. if the affected cords are permanently attached to the units, I'd recommend calling in to Logitech, and seeing what they can do about replacing them).

otherwise, it is most likely a receiver problem, which you would also have to call Logitech for repairs/replacement.

Hope this helps!

Asus m2n E Sli board audio

I had the same problem, and it went away when I connected the the front speakers via the 'ac97' connector from the case, instead of the HD audio connector. It seems using the HD audio connector, as well as using no connector and forgetting to put back the jumpers originally set over 2 of the front audio connectors pins, will cause no audio from the back ports.
