I still have no sound on my dell latitude C 640,when i go to device manager it shows legacy audio drivers installed by win xp which do not work.I've tried the drivers provided by dell but they dont work.please assist.where possible,provide solutions that have been tested and actually work.thanks.please anyone out there,any form of assistance will be appreciated

like i said previously i still cannot hear sounds coming from my laptop it is totally frustrating, and if there's anyone with ideas for this problem, pls feel free to post it up for me.My sound shuts off within 15mins of loading windows and will turn back on only if on standby mode, i have no idea why, and when it turn back on it'll only stay on for approx.5more mins and shut off again.I have done everything, checked device manager for yellow exclamation mark next to device and troubleshooted, still no luck, i have reinstalled new drivers for my sound device, still no resolution, i have done everything i can think of, pls anyone out there with a solution that i have not tried as yet, i am open to anything at this point, pls help.Thanks.

yes i too, have been experiencing no sound on my dell lattitude c640 notebook as well, in device manager it too says that the devices and drivers are all working properly and also i have tried to download new drivers from the dell website and still the NO Sound problems still exists, pls anyone out there can you pls help in this constant problem that i have been experiencing for over 2months now.Please Help ASAP.

Had the same problem with a c640 it was found to be caused by a faulty internal modem, the card was replaced and the audio worked fine.
I'm running a Crystal 4205 on a Dell C840. I've checked the device which is working properly. The message says the device works but is not started.

Device manager reports all's well but when I open Sounds and Audio Devices from Control Panel everything's a gloomy shade of grey. I try to troubleshoot but it fails to open and Help and Support has disappeared too.
