If you are limited by the region code of discs, you could get a region free player which can enable you to play Blu-ray and DVD discs from any regions. You could try Leawo Blu-ray Player which is a region free and 4K Blu-ray player.

Here is the steps to make your dvd player region free:

1. get the system grid to change region.
2. change to region 2 first.

Not reading the disc

need a bit more info - are you playing a movie or running software installation?

If you need to change the drive region then do the following

1. Power on your DVD Player without a disc in the drawer.
- Wait for the "Loading" screen to finish and then the display reads "no disc".
Check which region your reader was bought in. (Large Number label is located on the rear of the Player. Region 1 to 6)
-on the remote control
2. Press the "Repeat"button. The "no disc" label on the screen will disapear.
3. According to the region your player was bought in, choose from the following button sequences.
- region 1, press buttons 2, 9, 3, 3, 4
- region 2, press buttons 5, 7, 5, 3, 8
- region 3, press buttons 5, 6, 7, 3, 2
- region 4, press buttons 7, 6, 8, 8, 4
- region 5, press buttons 5, 3, 8, 1, 4
- region 6, press buttons 2, 4, 4, 6, 2
4. The number in the top left corner of the screen shows you the current region. EG "1" for the US/Canada, "4" for Australia/NZ.....etc.
5. Now enter the new number for the region you require (1 to 6)...or simply enter 9 for "Multi-region". The number in the left hand corner of the screen will change to the number you enetered. Wait for the number to dispear. It will take around 15 seconds.
6. Now power off the DVD player with the button on the front of the unit. Now each time the unit is turned on it will be in the new region...or muti-region if region 9 was chosen.
7. If you wish to change the region again...or back to its original, go through the exact same sequence until step 5. Then you enter the different region number.
If you are unsuccesfull with the above code then it may be worth trying one of the resources below.

I CANT CHANGE THE REGION ON MY DVD, although I have 1 change left

you can flash the drive with region free firmware (best option if you know what youre doing)
you can reinstall os giving you extra tries.
or you can use a program called any dvd(free)which enable you to watch any region (safe)
flash is best if youre not sure or cant find software let me know and give your dvd details(firmware)

Changing the DVD Region code

New DVD-ROM drives come with a firmware level RPC-2 with hardware protection. RPC 2 drives have a 5 change limit on regions, once the counter gets to 0 your drive is permanently locked to the last region it was set to. Even if you reformat or move the drive to another system it will still be locked to the last region. There are ways to get around it, some models have resetting tools made by 3rd parties to reset the change limit back to 5 and some also have firmware patches to remove the region lock.

The first solution is free VideoLAN player: click here to download VideoLAN.

The second solution is free Remote Selector tool: click here to download Remote Selector. Launch remselec22.exe file. Click Control tab. Choose Enabled, and check all options Region Free, Disable Macrovision, Disable User Prohibition Click Start Player button, and try to play your DVD

Finally Load another firmware for your DVD drive which disables the region code protection.

Changing the DVD Region code

Legally, the only way to resolve your issue is a new drive, the region code in the drive has been locked in the firmware and cannot be changed by normal means (You can search google for DVD region Code Cracks, but it is not recommended no legal)

Antipiracy laws mandated a limit to the number of times the Region code can be changed (5) and if you are going to be playing a lot of media from different regions, then get another drive and set it to one region (and mark the region on the drive) and use this for the other

I would like to play dvds region 1 and 2 by having laptop unlocked

Go to 'my computer' right click on you dvd drvie, go to properties, click on hardware, click on properties, then on region and change the region to region 2. Please note though that you can only change the region settings a certain number of times. It will tell you how many times you have left remaining when you go to change the region settings.
