You have to set the clock befire anything works .if you have done that its could be that the element has failed and the fault current has damaged any of the contacts in the circuit which can be themostat ,timer contact thermal cut out contacts. failure of the timer contacts would leave nothing working

Hi I have a 4year old Lamona 4601 double oven, the top oven/grill works fine but when I turn on fan oven it trips the power on the main house fuse board.

When the main breaker trips it indicates current is escaping from the circuit to ground.
If it is a micro-circuit breaker that trips it indicates the circuit is consuming too much current - a short circuit.

Either way the wiring or the oven elements have a fault and need attention.

MAIN HOUSE FUSES TRIPPED, RESET, OVEN AND GRILL WILL NOT HEAT UP

It would appear that the tripping of the switch has caused some kind of short within the cooker. I would look for the continuity of the heating element.

Most likely the wires leading to the heating element have burnt and will need replacement. If you are comfortable with attempting a DIY, well and good. You will have to open the back panel to access the said wires. It should be easy enough to identify..it will be the wire leadingto the heating coil.

If , however, you are not familiar with these kind of things, I would recommend getting a repair guy to do it for you.

Cheers and good luck with the repair!

My SMEG oven will not work, when I try to turn on the oven the whole thing powers down (the clock timer dies) The only way I csn reset this is to switch the power at the isolation switch off and on several...

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

I have a Stoves double oven and after a power cut the clock has stopped working and the main oven is not working either. the clock is completely off. the small top oven is still working though. what can...

The clock controls the ovens. In other words, directly you set any time on the clock, a contact operates within it to provide power to the ovens. (Normally the grill remains operational). You may need a new clock/timer. Before you do so, try switching the power off at the main isolating switch and leaving it off for a few mins, then switching it back on, to try to get the clock to operate. You may need to do this a few times.
Normally Stoves stick a label identifying the model on the left hand edge of the lower oven. You see this when you lower the main oven door. it will probably start with a 05 and be 9 digits long. With this number you can identify the oven and obtain parts.

Lights grill and fan work but oven isnt heating up

Hi there,

On our oven, we have to reset the clock before the oven will work. I think it's because of the automatic timer features.

Yours is a slightly different model, but on ours we have to press the two buttons with arrows on, at the same time as turning the clock dial. Once this is done, the oven should work again.

Good luck.
