Check the signal strength, in many cases of there is only one or two bars of signal it will cut in and out and make it impossible to do many things .

SOURCE: remote firewall??

have you got one live or windows defender?, if so check in the allowed menu to see if your roters ip address is being blocked, also check any other firewall or anti virus programmes.

SOURCE: No internet connection when I install AVG

please make a detailed explain of the roblem ...the only way of the avg to interfere with the connection is if it has settings for this ...like it own firewall ( I mean avg firewall) this is not available in any of the free avg ..so ..the problem is a different kind... go to bios at the features setup ...and look if it detects your LAN ..or modem ( in case) ..the last one needs to be enabled if ya are on this kind of connection .if you use a LAN connection ..and you can not find it into your bios...than try to remove cmos battery to reset and it will see it again ...if you do that dont forget to re set the time and date ..cause it would not start windows without ..it will prompt you to do that first ...

SOURCE: cannot connect to the internet. message reads firewall/query user.

Hi there.
With WinXP go to the control panel select security center, click on manage security settings for windows firewall, click on the advanced tab and then click on restore defaults, it will give you a warning but click ok and it will reset.
With Vista go to the control panel select security center, in the top left of the window click on windows firewall, then select change settings, click on the advanced tab and carry on just like with XP.
When you have reset the firewall to defaults its recommended you restart the PC.
Please post back with the results and thanks for using FixYa!!

SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 6000 will not connect to internet

It is still possible that it is infected

whilst AVG and S&D are good I dont know of any security product that "does it all"

I would reccomend "superantispyware" and "malwareantibytes"

http://www.superantispyware.com/index.html

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

download them to a usb drive and install them to the affected computer and run them

Set any setting to scan as deep and as many items as possible

It is also concievable that a virus or trojan has taken over some of the network settings and possibly the "HOSTS" file

Another program to download and run would be "hijackthis"

http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html

That program can save a log file which can be posted to particular web sites. On these sites are people who know how to disect that log and tell you what to remove and how.

I need help a fire wall setting to connection to paltalk

To open Windows Firewall, click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Windows Firewall. If you use the Advanced tab to turn off Windows Firewall for one or more individual connections, the Windows Security Center will report that the firewall is off, even though the firewall is still turned on for other connections. Also, on the General tab, Windows Firewall will still be set to On.

Hoped this helped change your settings :)

Hey buddy, if this happens for any video you watch on You Tube, even though you have turned off your firewall, then the problem lies with you Internet connectivity. Check for a seamless connection. Your Internet is probably fluctuating and too slow.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Error code 646

Hello Titan,

Try to disable your firewall. If you’re using McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, F-Secure Internet Security, Norton Internet Security or another Firewall vendor, see its respective support page for assistance in disabling it (temporarily). If you’re using the built-in Vista Firewall, keep reading.

* Open the Control Panel and select Security.

* Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

* Select Off (not recommended), click Apply and then OK.

* Back at the Windows Update screen, click the Try again button.

* The download(s) and installation should start…

* and this time successfully install. If a restart is required, make sure to re-enable your Firewall once your PC restarts.

* Though this solution will work for most Vista Update errors

Internet access just stopped working!

Open Device Manager and check to make sure that the Wireless Adapter is not disabled. The red X can be caused by that. If it has the red X on it, right click and choose 'enable'. That should take care of it. If it doesn't, please let me know and we can look a little deeper.

How to remove nortan Internet security firewal from coputer

In your Symantec folder should be an uninstaller. Click on that and follow the onscreen directions. My advice though would be to keep the Norton's and turn off the windows firewall. With both on they will clash. You have more options for internet security in Norton's than in the windows firewall, but it's up to you. Good luck.

My zyxel 660 hw works fine for 10 minutes, then starts disconnect

If the same thing is happening with the USB WIFI on the PC. This sounds like a problem with your PC rather than your router. Is your antivirus / spyware scanner up to date? If not up date it and run a full system scan. Also you should check to see if your Firewall is up to date, and that the wireless network you are connecting to is included in the safe zone area of your firewall.

1 more thing if you are using a Thrid party firewall (i.e. Norton, Zone Alarm, McAfee, Etc.) Make sure Windows Firewall is deactivated (in Conntrol Panel) having 2 firewalls on can lead to random problems

Connection problems

If your connected to a router, is your router connected to a firewall as well.

One thing I have noticed too on Vista is even though you tell windows security to turn off the firewall it doesn't mean it is completely turned off unless you go into the control panel, select admistration tools (if you have access to it), double click on services, select windows firewall, and disable it.

Then it is shut down for good.
