Hello sir/ma'am hi, the flashing red means that the hard drive has problems, you usually cannot read any data making it no to appear on your computer. Suggestion: The logical thing to do is get a new one, NOW if you have data on that drive, you need to disassemble it and get the hard drive unit, place it on a computer, run seagate disk manager and pray that you may recover the drive data.

My 1Tb Seagate FreeAgent Go portable drive stopped being recognized. When plugged in the lights blink but I can't see it to recognize it.

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

Freeagent Go not recognized as an identifable USB device.

I plugged mine's directly through the back of my computer instead of the hub in the front and it's working fine.

The light on my Seagate freeagent go flashes quickly when it is connected to my computer, indicating an error. What should i do?

I had similar problem recently. I noticed that I had forgotten to connect the power supply cable to the USB hub, to which my FreeAgent Go was connected to, after I had connected all my USB devices to my computer's USB ports (after I had disconnected everything from my computer in order to isolate another issue). Reconnecting the power supply cable immediately stopped the flashing light and windows recognized the drive.

Don't know how you are connecting yours to the computer i.e. via a USB hub or directly to the computer's USB port. Note that my FreeAgent Go drive requires both USB connectors connected to the computer (or to USB hub). Two USB connectors are on one end and the other end of the cable is connected to the drive/docking station.

Hope this helps.

External Harddrive Ignorance...

I've seen this happen with hubs being connected to external hard drives before.

Do you have a free usb port on the back of your computer you can plug it into?

That should fix the problem.
