My sunbeam heat flex heating pad was working and now is flashing red light on high and no heat, any suggestions?
Have same problem with heating pad . reset control by unplugging unit for 1 minute , while holding down power button plugged unit back in . sometimes this takes 3 or 4 tries.
This solution does not work for me. I thought that if I paid more money for a heating pad, I would get a better product especially with the brand name of Sunbeam. I see on the tag, it was made in China, not Canada or United States. Just saying.
This worked for me! Thank you! The same thing happened to my old one, I wish I would have seen this sooner instead of running out and getting a new one. Thanks again!

Thank you so much! This did the trick for me.
It worked for me too! So grateful!
It worked for a few minutes then tried again a few times but it went back to flashing red light.
There is no "reset" function. It's because of faulty wiring on the circuit board .
That solution worked for me! Thank you!
The heat is on! I have a Walgreens pad that had the same. Issue and I only needed to do it once. . Thank you

I had the same problem with a Walgreens/Sunbeam heating pad. Red light flashing would not reset.
I called the above number. They were extremely nice and are sending me a new pad, no charge. I only was on the phone about five minutes or less. I don't even have to send back the old one.
I hope the new one works; we'll see. But I'm very impressed with their responsiveness.
When placing the phone call, remember that a heating pad is not a mattress pad or blanket or bedding. It's just called a heating pad.
I have a Sunbeam Heating Pad model #CAT93. I fixed mine -too with the directions on the toll free number given above (1-800-458-8407). This is the 2nd heating pad from Sunbeam originally purchased at Walgreen's. The first one malfunctioned after some use (I have Fibromyalgia, so I use mine a lot). The window that shows the heat & time settings showed "F1". The first time this happened, I talked with a very nice Sunbeam customer service rep. who asked no questions except where she could send a new one! Amazing service! This time, I came across this msg. board, called the #, followed the trouble shooting prompts & it's working & all I had to do was disconnect the cord from the pad itself & reconnect them, then plug the power cord into an outet. Yayyy! It works!! Thanks for everyone's suggestions & for Sunbeam being a very upstanding company. Great customer service & help line.
I have model sw114 heating pad & I have the flashing red light with no heat also. I just started using it a couple months ago. Sounds like this problem exists with all of their heating pads. I hope someone can figure this out & that there is a remedy for it.
yea i got 2 doing it as well i tried that unpluging that its not helping mine any suggestions?
I did the trouble shooting problems everyone suggested but didn't work I called the number and it said to call back to talk to a person 8-5 Monday-Friday I called and read the numbers to them and there sending me a new one! Free! I didn't pay shipping or anything!

I fixed it!!!. Thanks for pointing me to the connector between the pad and the controller, which the 1-800 number auto help suggested would also cause the blinking red light. It seems the 3 male (pin) contacts in the blanket connector half were not contacting the female (socket) contacts properly. I carefully (to avoid jabbing my hand) wiggled and pushed a jewelers screwdriver into the tip of the male contacts to spread them apart a little more and then re mated the connector .... plugged it in again and IT NOW WORKS! Woohoo. Give it a try :o)
Thanks, Alex! That worked great on my heating pads! You saved me a lot of aggravation.
Can u please share a pic of which contacts to spread
Omg you just saved my heating pad!!!! Thank you!
This worked for me too, saved me sending back a new heating pad, thank you!!!

Same thing happened to me me 4 different times. Love the pad hate the problem!
I have two heating pads from Sunbean that had done this same thing. It is obviously a defect in the control. I think Sunbean really needs to look into this, I am getting tired of buying their heating pads that don't work!
The problem with these blankets is that the part that connects from the blanket to the cord that then plugs into the wall is defective. the blanket connection has ac current which is supposed to transfer to dc current when connecting to the plug to the outlet, but it is cleearly defective, My boyfriend is an electrician and we took it apart, figured out the simple schematics of it using a meter to test the currents and it was clear to see that it is made poorly and does not generate the proper amount of current to transfer to current allowed in the connector which was designed for this blanke to generate the heat. Shame on sunbeam. I threw the cord away and am using the blanket part for my dog.

Well this thread is about heating pads, not blankets.
Hey dummkopf, she clearly mentioned the problems with her HEATING PAD!

I, too, have had the same issue with my Sunbeam Heating Pad. Thanks to the above comments from ehook022258 and bdasef, I called 1-800-458-8407 and followed the phone suggestions. When that didn't work, I connected to a service rep by the name of "Lesly" who was VERY nice and helpful! She quickly took my information and said that a replacement heating pad will be mailed to me. While this is the second Sunbeam Heating Pad I have purchased that has had this blinking light issue, I will continue to purchase their products based on the friendly customer service. Thank you LESLY at Sunbeam!
I think there must be something wrong with this product. We had exactly the same problem as you do at the very first time using it, and we tried the solution of disconnecting the cord from the pad, it worked but 30mins later, the problem came back again. So I called the number given above, but after the representative got to know that I mailed the product to my mom back in my home country, the representive began to give me excuse that you cant use it in countries other than usa or canada, I told her we use voltage converter, and then she gave a very stupid explanation this product should be connect to the outlet on the wall, how ridiculous!! As long as you satisfy the electric voltage and current, the product should works. Did you hear that electric product such as TV wouldnt work if you plug it into outlet bar? Then she said, you have to mail it back for us to replace it, and she sounded very rude! I was thinking of purchasing another product of their for my father, but now, I won't, I don't have confidence in their product and service!
Hi i know what is the problem with these heating pad, i am a electronic ingenieer and recently one client brought me one of these pads with the same problem the red led
blinking in the hand control, first i checked the circuit of the control, and everything seems to be right, there were no pieces burned or in bad conditions, then i checked the pad and there's no continuity in the connectors pin's, the problem is right in the connection, among the current wire and the resistence wire, both of these are broken from the union cast at the factory, you need bring your pad to a tecnician or specialist in electronics to fix it.

Same issue, this is my third sumbeam heating pad, third one that has not worked properly, one even gave me a huge shock from the control pad and shopped functioning, Terrible product and honestly not sure why they are still being made =/
2.2.2022 I just had this blinking High indicator light with no heat issue on a gift heating pad I got for the Christmas before last (so just over a year). I deal with chronic pain so I use it every day. I used the troubleshooting tips I got in this forum and it did not fix it so I called the number and spoke with Hilda who was very patient and explanatory. After I gave her the numbers she said it was under a 5 yr warranty. She said they request I send the defective one back and then after that they would send me a new one...I said I can't last that long without one (average of 7-10 days to send me a label because I don't have access to a printer) and she fixed it to where she is sending a comparable model out to me today. Extremely pleased with the Customer Service and the warranty window of 5 years.
April 12th 2019 and the problem is still happening!!!!!!
So my family’s Sunbeam Heating Pad, I just found out that it blinks on high (red). Told my Grandma and she said we’ll a new one this week and I told her about this thread and how many other people were having trouble and of how every H.P breaks...so we’re gonna by from another brand. Screw having a fire just waiting to happen!
In purchased one of these 4 years ago and finally had this issue about a month ago. The very next day I went to Walgreen's and bought 2 more. Now both are already doing the exact same thing. Wow...
I just used pliers to snug the 3 female connections. Works now! No more f2 (fingers crossed). Maybe tinning the male plugs with solder would work too?

I have used my heating pad 3 times and now it will not work. Just like the other comsumers problems, it comes on with the light blinking on high, but will not work. I called the Sunbeam phone number and tried their troubleshooting hints, but none of them work. I plan on calling during normal hours and speaking to a human about the problem. Hopefully they can help. The number is 1-800-458-8407. Any help is welcome.
I have two Sunbeam Heating Pads-one of which is shown as Model #788 and 790. Both have had the same problems- -blinking red light and no heat. I replaced one of the pads with the other and have tried switching the cords, etc. to no avail. They both have worked for a while after purchase, but then began flashing.
The model of the product is 810-915 P.N . 122659 but it looks like the picture on the screen. There is no button off but 4 levels of heat: warm, low, medium and high and there is a button to change the level. There is a 2 hour auto-off. I used it twice a couple of months ago and it was working well. Lately I used it at the medium level and it started to heat, but after a wile, it didn't heat anymore and the red light of the high level was flashing all the time. I disconnected it, verified the connection of the wire but nothing worked. I tried many times, with days between each time, to reconnect and disconnectand reconnect, but nothing worked. Can you help me solve my problem? I realy loved that pad but it doesn't work anymore. Thanks.
Sunbeam 805810 HeatSense Heating Pad Heater
Just like all the others the red light is blinking and will not heat.
Same problem. High (red) light flashes and the pad has stopped heating. Says to push the "push" botton and it will restart. Mine does not, but will if I unplug it and plug it back in.
Oops, I clicked the comment button rather than clicking I have the same problem. Sorry.
I have model sw114 heating pad & I have the flashing red light with no heat also. I just started using it a couple months ago. Sounds like this problem exists with all of their heating pads. I hope someone can figure this out & that there is a remedy for it.
I have the same problem; model#sw114 and the red light on high flashes. It doesn't matter what I DO, IT WON'T WORK!! We should start a class action lawsuit against Sunbeam!
Sunbeam Model 788. Brand new, right out of box will not work. Flashing light on high, no heat. This is ridiculous, how can Sunbeam sell a product that obviously didn't pass their own quality control department? Will not purchase another Sunbeam product.
This is ridiculous, I had purchased one a few weeks ago and it did the same thing. I actually took mine back and exchanged it for another one(the same model) last week and this week the new one is doing the exact same thing. I thought I had bought "the good one" I guess not . Has anyone figured out the problem???
I recently got a new heating pad and it was doing a finomanal job at getting warm... then one day i relized it wasn't heating up and it was on high. The red light was continuousley blinking... do you know how to make it work again?
heating pad will not heat and controll flashes on red high light
I tried all the solutions that were suggested but nothing solved the problem of having an electric pad whith a red light flashing at the maximum heat level, without heating, and without the possibility of of changing the level and without the possibility of turning it off with the command. The garanty is very bad because we cannot return it and we are at the mercy of waiting an answer on the internet. My demand was sent on april the 26 and an interest from your company recommanded by Sunbeam is sent 7 months later. Wow. Is that some service ! When I bought that heating pad, I tought that it was very good but the next time I used it it didn't work. One time that's all and no possibility to return it. What a good protection for the client. I lost faith in this company and I won't by any product of this brand because If something is wrong with one of their product, it cannot be replaced or repaired. And the service Fixa, not very good either. Not realy helpful to find a free solution, and the other solution where we have to pay is not very good either because it is too expensive comparing to the price of the product itself and we have no garanty of and answer in an acceptable delay, no garanty of a repair or a replacement. The garanty listed on the paper is not truly respected. If you have a decent solution about this problem I would pleased to hear it.
I have had the F1 default come on several times. If you lay on the heating pad for too long period of time or get the cord twisted it will cause a default. To fix a F1 just unplug for 30 seconds and plug back in. To solve a F2 default, unplug the heating pad for 2-3 minutes. Before you plug back in hold down the power Auto on/off button then plug in the heating pad. When it is plugged back in the window will be dark meaning it is reset. Good Luck.
Wow, I've never thought about using a heating pad for residential heating in Wasilla AK. When it worked, did you like it?
Just got off the phone (# in wallsl comment) with Sunbeam. They dont like standing behind their products. Have 3 of their pads that blink instead of heating. Ask for supervisor, when they offer a discount of 10% on a new one laugh at them! I told them that I get that big a discount at Dunkin Donuts and dont even have to tell them my donut had too much cinnamon on it... just take off my hat and show them my bald spot! Then threaten them with facebook and twitter and having a grandchild that lives for causes to champion. Then they will go to the next level supervisor (there is always another layer of supervisors at sunbeam) and then they will come back all cheery and nice and replace broken units for free! Cheers for OLDPEOPLE POWER!!!
Heat only work on high
red light on but no fan or heat
I had the same problem but it was because the connection, on the back of the circuit board where one of the leads to the pad was, had not been pop riveted correctly.
The fix was to drill out the rivet and put in a small bolt and nut to hold it together
You sir may be the community electrician, but to expect me to follow your pictures is pathetic. I have a CVS pad, that’s so close to yours that I’m pretty sure they have the same manufacturer. I get the same as you’ve gotten. It’s just a defective piece of junk. To sell a product that requires such repairs as you are describing, or to require plugging it in to first on plug, then another, then touch your nose (or what the heck ever) is junk. You psy good money, and then you find out that you’ve been scammed into buying junk. That’s 2018 for you folks!
Worked for me. Thanks
I had the same problem & the only solution has been holding down the power button when I plug it in. Works every time!
