How can i change my tomtom to english? It is in German when I first turned it on

You will have to check 2 settings. First one. Tap on the screen. Tap on change preferences. Tap on the arrow 3 times. You should be on page: Preferences 4 of 6 by now. Tap on change language. Tap on English US. Tap on Yes.

Since its in german.. You may need to use google translate to translate the german to english just so you know what screens in german match with the screens listed above.

Turn on your tomtom.
When it has booted to the map display press once on the map
Now click the spanner / wrench icon.
Use the right arrow icon to scroll until you see the flags icon and select that.
The language menu will open and you can set it to english there

If english is not listed then it has been deleted by accident and you would have to download it from tom tom to restore it.

  • In driving view, tap the map to get to the main menu.
  • Locate the "Preferences" icon (looks like a wrench or a gear depending on software version) and tap it.
  • Cycle through the menu pages until you see an icon with three flags (UK, German, Dutch) and tap it.

Basically: 'Change preference' (look for Spanner image Icon) -> Scroll right Arrow until 'Change language' (look for Flags image Icon) -> Select English -> Select an English Voice

My Main menue language is German on my TomTom 130 GPS
In the menu, you should find the settings for language.

Now, If you don't speak German, this can be a problem.

If you use your computer to translate, you can do it.

Go to http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ and select the languages as required (German to English). Enter the commands you see on the TomTom, and navigate that was until you see the language settings.
