Garmin navs are famous for there chargers burning out. first check the fuse at the end of the 12v car charger by unscrewing the tip of.if its blown replace it. if its not blown then the charger has burned out there are after market chargers but only garmin chargers will work!! as garmin use a sensor to detect the correct type of charger is connected so be sure to buy a genuine garmin 12v charger

best of luck

Garmin nuvi 260 battery does not hold a charge

If a wall powered charger is used it could be bad or the connection from it to the unit damaged---happens if the charger is connected/disconnected a lot----same thing can happen if using the lighter plug adapter for charging.

Garmin gps doesn't work when charging with cigarette charger. Instead of the GPS to Navigate it rather shows like there's a data transfer.

Hello,

The proper vehicle power cables for the Garmin nuvi 260 are part numbers 010-10723-06 or 010-11478-03.
The use of improper cables will cause the nuvi to go into mass storage.

My Garmin Nuvi 260 is not on the recall list but will not charge or stay on - it does start up but after allegedly loading the maps, it turns off

The recall is for an overheating battery issue which can potentially cause a fire. Your problem is totally unrelated and is most likely simply due to the rechargeable battery being exhausted.

Replacing the battery is supposed to be a Garmin service centre job, but they charge silly money for it. Do it yourself instead, click here for a free instructional video.

Good luck, please take a moment to rate my reply.

The USB port on the NUVI 260 is loose and will not charge

You will not be able to refasten it yourself. This is a surface mount part and you need a very small tip soldering iron to fix it, plus you ned to know how to modify it so it wont break again. Please see this link:
