I can't log on skype, it says your skype name and password were not recognised.

If it's been awhile since you used Skype to communicate with friends abroad or family back home, you might draw a big blank when it's time to type in your Skype username.

Skype requires a username and password from users to log in to the service.
You choose this username and password when you register for a Skype account.

By using Skype's recovery options and the email address used to register the account, you can retrieve your Skype username with ease.

Navigate to the Skype homepage online at skype.com.
Click "Sign In."


Click "Forgotten your Skype Name?" under the Skype Name entry box.


Type the email address you used to register the account in the box that appears. Click "Get Skype Name."

Skype will email you a link to that address to recover your username. Click on the link inside the email sent by Skype.

A page will open displaying your username.

Even if you had remembered your username, the password reset facility on skype never works, it sends you password reset links and then says the tokens are not recognised.
So forget your old account, start a new one on skype and this time write down the skype username and password.
Once you are on skype it will offer you the chance to pair it with a microsoft account. Do not do this, if you do it will still offer you the chance to login with your skype username, but always reject your skype password, there is a bug in the pairing they do not want to fix.

You may not have finalized setting up your Skype account. Some sites need you to confirm your account through a link in your e-mail. Check the spam folder if you cannot find it in the regular e-mail folder and mark it as not spam. If you can't find it anywhere, the setup may not have went through and you will have to reenter all the same info again. Hope this works for you.

Follow the instructions here to change your Skype name. In a similar way you can change the password as well!

You can still reset it. Open the Skype, enter your username, click "Forgot you password?", (you can do even if you don't enter the username, but it's better since you'll be taken to your personal page, check the url, you'll be be able to see your username).

another windows will open up on the Browser, there, you'll see box "Enter your email address", type in your email address and click "submit"

You'll receive a temporary password on your email. Use the code to login and change the password after you are logged in. Note: to change the password, you'll need the temporary password, so don't delete the email, better note it down and change it once you are logged in.

use the "forgot my password" link in skype..

If you are logged in, sign out of Skype using File | Sign Out. If you are not logged in, you can immediately click on the link "Don't have a Skype Name". Follow the on-screen wizard to finish setting up a new account.
