My amp shuts off at high volumes. my rockford fosgate Hx2 dvc 4ohm is the only speaker connected to it. the speaker is wired for 4ohm and is connected to the amp bridged at the rear channels. why does the amp shut down?
If the speaker is a 4 ohm DVC (two 4 ohm coils), you can't wire it to get a single 4 ohm load. Try connecting one coil to each of the two rear channels. It may not be as loud but the amp should operate without going into protection.
If the two 4 ohm coils are in parallel, the amp is driving a 2 ohm mono load. That's probably why it's shutting down.

i have the same problem with my sony explod amp approx. 40 watts a channel. the rear chan bridged to a mtx 10 inch sub, the usb starts to distort and the whole amp shut down. if i disconnect the sub and just play the front spkrs it plays fine but no sub.
