SOURCE: Sony Wega 40" TV will not turn on, standby light blinks 6 times repeatedly

Hello,For model KV-40XBR800,

Pls check following area.

Low HV Shutdown:
On the D Board.
Check IC8004/pin 7 should be 7.4v.
Check IC8006/pin 2 should be 2.5v if lower will trigger shutdown by causing pin 1 to turn on.
Check IC8006/pin 3 reference voltage 2.2v.
IC8006/pin 1 normally at 0v. If high
turns D5007 ON which turns the latch circuit Q6532,
Q6530, and Q6527 ON and turns the AC relay RY6501 OFF.

And NOTE: 6 blinks also can be Low B+ protection.

Unregulated 7.5 v from the power supply to 5v reg IC504 on the A Board. 5v to M Board Q2314

to CPU IC2300/pin 43. If 5v missing set will shutdown with 6 blinks.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32HS500...red standby light blinks 6 ti

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with
troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one
circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Sony Trinitron Problems - Red light blinks 6 times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully.Visit this site " Electro help "for more details. Google for it.
It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Light blinks 6 times but tv will not turn on I have unplugged it for a few minutes ad plugged it back in and still does the same thing

Standby light blinks to Sony TVs are fault indications. Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
This is the fault to your Wega. If you want more details, check this.

Hello, My elderly Mom has a Trinitron KV-32S10 tv and the stand-by light is continuously blinking and there is no picture, but there is sound. I have unplugged the tv and waited 2 minutes and plugged back...

The blinking light is the fault code to enable the engineer to have a good guess at where the fault area lies.
Count the blinks and tell a Sony repair shop, they will have a good idea of the cost.
Hope that helps.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Get out your original remote and hold the "Setup" button at the same time as holding the On/Off button on the TV set. It just worked for me!! Thank goodness. I was just about to bring it for repair but there's a snowstorm.
