My 3007 Yamaha generator EF2400iS is not running smooth as I have to pull the choke out a little to smooth it out and it seems to be burning more gas than it was last year. I there an in line gas filter for this unit? Thanks, Jerry

Generator will only run on choke

Most likely, the carburetor needs cleaning.
There are two main jets powering your Yamaha, the pilot, or sometimes called the idle jet, and the main jet. If the pilot jet is clogged, the main jet will take on the load, and the governor will modulate the carburetor to keep it running, causing the surging problem. Likely, the problem is less, or even nonexistent if the choke is on, or the generator is under load.
Search the web for help on cleaning this pilot/idle jet.

Yamaha EF2400iS, transported upside down, oil leaked into carby. cleaned it out, will start and run briefloy when usuing "start you bastard", but refuses to start otherwise. Help

If you had oil in the carb, it came in through the intake manifold and breather, you may have yo clean out further, you may also need to remove cylinder head to clean out combustion chamber, of you cannot keep it running to burn it out

My 2 Yamaha ef2000is generators will only run anything in my camper that requires power (ac,tv, or microwave) unless the choke is on about a 1/4 of the way.

dirty carby jets. it is not receiving enough fuel thereby needing the choke. remove carby and clean jets thoroughly or simply try removing air filter & squirting carby cleaner into carby throat whilst revving engine several times, this sometimes works enough to solve problem.

My Yamaha 2400 is not running smooth and it lopes. It has about 40 hours on it. I cleaned the filter Air and put a little additive to boost gas. Also changed spark plug which was dark at the probe. I do...

40hrs? I'd look at the exhust. There is a screen that fits INSIDE your exhust.A small flat tipped screw driver should pry it out easy.In chainsaws they're used for spark arresters, the same on these I think.Quick wirebrush and your exhust should be able to flow and not back up.
I've had my 2400 7 yrs now here in Alaska, out in the woods where I live.I need a Boost Control Unit, teach me for not using a ground wire,I burned a pin out in my unit.$800 part for a $1,300 generator.I really really like mine so I'll buy another and keep looking for a used one online.

Generator will start and run with the choke on but stalls when you push the choke off.

Carburetor needs cleaning. You can try adding a gas preservative to the fuel and see if that helps, otherwise start by removing bowl on carburetor and cleaning.

My EF2400iS surges under low loads. Seems to smooth out with larger load. Any suggestions? Throttle motor or control box?

Idle speed screw may need adjusting slightly to increase idle speed. Also Main jet and Idle mixture Screws may also be out of adjustment

Yamaha ef2400is generator needs some choke to run

Fuel Starvation - Float Bowl Carburetor
1) remove air filter assembly
*be cautious of tearing the mounting gasket. If it does tear, you HAVE to replace it. It is part of the priming system
2) remove the float bowl fastener. This is the main jet
3) carefully remove the float bowl, the rubber o-ring/gasket will not be able to be used if it is removed, you WILL have to replace it
4) using a spray 'carb cleaner'
spray up thru the center of the carburetor
spray and clean the main jet with cleaner and 'tag' wire
(tag wire is very thin, and can be used to clean the hole in the center of the main jet)
5) clean any debris from inside the bowl or carb body
6) re-install bowl and center bolt, air filter assembly

*if you need gaskets, your local lawn & garden dealer can supply. The kit is cheaper than individual gaskets, and all the parts needed to finish the above repair are in the kit.

Generator only runs with the Choke all the way out. Stops when pushed in.

Only a suggestion. Sounds like the carberator has trash in it. You need to try to clean out the carb and check out the gas tank to make sure that that there is no trash in the tank. When opening the choke lever that allows another way for the fuel to get to the engine in order for it to run.

Motor will not run with the choke off & rpm's go up and down

sounds like your fuel has gone stale, drain tank and put in fresh fuel, with no additive, better to drain the tank after use than use additives
