My screen read 'card not initialized" so I followed instructions to go to menu...then format then click ok....well i lost all of my pis ctures...help can I get them back

Initialize (sometimes called "format") erases the card and prepares it for the operating system of the camera it is used in. Go into the menu and find "format" or "initialize" and follow the on-screen instructions.
It sounds as if the card may be corrupt, so you could try formatting it on PC:-
Put the SD card into the slot on PC, or into an attached card reader. Go to the 'My Computer' screen, and right click on the SD card's icon to bring up the format options. Click on 'format' and follow the instructions. Before taking the card out, click on 'safely remove..'
If the camera can then read the SD card, format the card again in the camera and it should be read ok. Hope this works!

The easiest fix is to get a card reader and use it to download your pics to your computer. Then, go into the camera menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert the card and find "format" in the menu...follow the on-screen instructions.
