Vaio VGN-CS110E shuts down after a couple of minutes or randomly. I tried to desconect the battery and connect it back. Tried to only use the powercord, but I get the same result. Sometimes it takes more time to shut off than on other ocasions. The cooling fan is ok. What can be the problem?

As soon as you hit the power button to turn it on start tapping the F8 key and a boot screen should come up. If it does use the arrow keys to move the selector to safe mode and hit enter. If it boots into safe mode you have an issue with your OS like a virus or bad boot sector. You will have to get it looked at or you can try and run spyware program or antivirus while in safe mode.

Is the laptop getting very hot if so then the laptop is turning off because of this. You will need to get it cleaned out around the fan, if you are still getting the same problem after this you could ues one of these USB cooling fan stands. i use one with my acer6530g when i am working with it for hours at one time. hope this helps.

You should send it to them, it absolutely sounds like the computer is overheating which would be the cause of a faulty fan. Make sure you back up all of your information prior to sending the computer out, as they won't hesitate to reset the computer back to its factory settings. Continuing to use the computer in its current state could cause more permanent damage to the computer, so back it up and send it out as soon as possible.

It can be your aging power supply is not providing the full voltage your laptop needs?... Let's say your laptop needs 19.5 Volts (and it DOES), but your supply can only provide 16 or lower volts? You may see results like you are getting now...

New supplies are not that expensive (about $14 inc US shipping) and rather spending a lot for diagnostics and waiting a week or so, a new fresh supply MAY be all you need!

OK... I just found a NEW supply for $8.52 on eBay for your system and he's a US Shipper too. It's worth a try!

My computer prompts me to go on hybernate because the battery is not compatible or not installed..
right click on the desktop..go to screen severs ..and there to power savings..in there remove any settings that will get it to sleep and put it never on all the line down ..including on battery mode..and willnot prompt you anymore untill its shuts down from lack of power in battery mode..and will stay on for ever until shut down manually in adapter plugged mode

Vaio computer problem
You could have a faulty fan and/or dust clogging the fan and heat-sink assemble. This is the most likely cause of the laptop shutting down. When the CPU overheats it goes into thermal shutdown and if this problem is not fixed, eventually the CPU will fail.
Check the fan to see it it spins freely and check if the fan works when the laptop is powered up.
If the fan and heat-sink is ok, then to give the laptop addition cooling then purchase a laptop cooling pad and place the laptop in this pad (These pads have cooling fans and helps cool the laptop).

I've sony vaio vgn-cs110e purchased from US before 9 months, it works fine till today but today when i turn on the notebook it stats normally and also i can work normally on it but suddenly after 5 minutes...
You have to tell us the error message that it shows when it turns off. And if it is not showing any message and just die to black screen, then its a motherboard problem.
