Honda GX 160 under 30 hrs from new, is running poorly

Honda GX 160 under 30 hrs from new, is running very poorly, and subsequently not generatinfg electricity; have tried new BPR6 ES spark plug but without change in condition; recently changed engine oil with Honda lube (10W30, surely unrelated?). Suspect fuel? Air filter clean enough, blowing some black smoke out of exhaust when turning over prior to starting before running approx half speed, vibrating a bit and then sputtering and finally stopping. Will now try the fuel sediment cup, but I always have used freshly bought fuel prior to filling/starting generator.

My model does not seem to have a hand throttle lever fitted, only a choke lever, I'm guessing a generator (Pramac 3000 in this case) should not require any modification of running speed once set by the maker? Any suggestions gratefully received, thank you.

Try removing the float bowl on the carburator and cleaning, sounds like needle valve is partially stopped up

Black smoke out of the exhaust sounds like too much fuel or the valves are out of adjustment. Are you remembering to take the choke off when it warms up?

Oil Level Sensor Issues

Not worth the work. Just leave it disconnected and check oil twice daily under hard working conditions. Change the oil every 100 hrs of hard use or when it looks black and dirty.

I have a Honda GX 160 and I an getting gas in the oil

hi under the carb is a drain bowl .shut the fuel off then take the bowl off 10 mm bolt .then you will see a plastic float hold the float up and turn the fuel on if fuel is cuming out the needle might have dirt on it. turn fuel off now pull the pin out that holds float in place the needle will come down with float spray needle and where needle is seated with carb cleaner now re fit needle and float and hold float up and turn fuel on if no fuel comes out problem sorted. drain oil and fill with new oil.if still leaking fuel you need a new needle

Honda gx 160 runs for 30 minutes then shuts off and wont re-start

Try checking the fuel filter and or line. Sometimes dirt is drawn in to plug the line, then settles back down later.

Where to connect the throttle cable on a GX 31 honda motor FG 100 tiller

I look up honda engines at : honda-engines-eu.com they have the best access to detailed information. If you can identify the carb butterfly, any cable should attach to the butterfly control. I see a Honda GX100, but not a GX31.

I have a Honda GX 160 5.5 Power washer Model Number: CM2403. What kind of oil should i be using in the engine?

If it has a Briggs engine then use SAE 30 oil. If you run synthetic (which I highly recommend), then SAE 30 or muti-viscosity oil like 10W-30 can be used, but if using conventional oil, only SAE30.

MY GX 240 starts fine runs great any where from 30

Can your gas tank breathe? Is your fuel filter clogged? Might there be something in the tank that would obstruct the flow of fuel?

Check the tank by loosening the top to allow air to enter.

Let me know what happens
