We have had our Sony for less than 3 years and after 1 year we had the same problem exactly.
Your watching TV hear a weird noise and then the screen goes blank and a red light flashes several times and then will NEVER turn on again.
Each time you power up same red flashing light.
1st time we called a sony repair man - $400 later they replaced a box, left the old one for us, said we may need it again - he sees this alot.
so last week, we bought a new one - and it has not fixed the problem.
Is there a reset button or specal codes you can press to get into the screen?
Turn on tv, after a few minutes picture goes black, but still have sound. red light blinks 5 times,turn set off same thing happens when you turn set back on. some times it want do it for 10 min.
