I just purchased a new Kenmore elite range, model 970-698593 and I am getting error code E015. Service support suggested unplugging the stove and waiting an hour to reset it, but the code will not reset with unplugging the machine. I am wondering what might be causing this?
Just asking if your model number is correct. I do not find 970 models but do find 790 models. If it is a 790 model there can be aproblem with the door lock on the oven door. You may want to check to see if all the shipping materials have been removed from the door lock / latching area. I would recommend that you review the installation instructions in the owners manual, paying particular attention to the removal of shipping materials.
Adittionally if the problem presists it says to replace the Electronic Range Control (ERC) This is not a cheap part! Good thing it will be at their expense including the repair service call..
Hopefully you have already called for warranty service? We both know a brand new oven should not be producing any error codes. If you have not called for warranty service you do so now. Make sure to tell them that you already have talked to customer support and that unplugging the unit for ANY period of time made no difference in the error code.

I really am trying to help you here. The 2 thumb rating indicated to me that you disliked what was stated by me. I did a data base search for the model number you provided and got this response:

That is the best I can do with an invalid model number.
I asked if your model was a 790 series unit and quoted you what the service manual said about the 790 series ranges.
If you have made absolutely certain that all the shipping materials have been removed from the oven door and latch assy then your faced with either a bad latch assy or defective Electronic Range Control.
Again I emphasize that you call for in home warranty service at this time. Anything that you as a consumer at this point would do other than the shipping material removal will void your warranty.
