Under normal use winding an automatic watch is not needed.

If it has been left unused for more than about 3 days, then it will stop. On some automatic watches you can wind them but if yours does not allow this, then, holding it level (face up), swing it gently from side to side for a few minutes. This should wind the watch and after this normal use should be sufficient to keep it wound.

Just had a new battery installed in a fila wind master watch. the hr, min and sec hands are spinning and it goes through the start cycle. not able to stop this. also need instructions on how to set time....

Hi, According to your problem first make sure that the battery that you have changed is OK, or try another battery. Your watch need a factory reset. If normal factory reseting doesn't solve your problem then you have to repair the machine.

My watch stops working, the mechanism works on motion or kinetics. However, even with a bit of a shake it works for a bit then loses time and stops altogether

It may require rather more than a bit of a shake! Some makers say that you have to swing it gently form side to side for 200-300 times to fully wind up the watch.

I bought one some years ago that didn't work well and I had it cleaned, after which it worked perfectly for years.

If giving your watch the shaking I described above it still does not work, try having it cleaned.

Automatic watches thrive on being used but should run for 2-3 days before stopping.

How do I wind up my tag carrera automatic using the crown??

Wow, how wrong yall are.

There are three positions for the Carrera's push-down crown. The inner position is used for normal wear and winding. To wind the crown manually, simply rotate it clockwise.

Changing the date on the Carrera is done from the middle crown position. Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date, one day at a time. Push the crown back to the inner position when finished.

The outer crown position is used for setting the time. You can turn the crown in this position either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Adjust the time forward or backwards. Setting the time backwards will not damage the watch. When the time is correct, press the crown all the way into the inner position.

The second hand is not moving even when i wind it

This watch is an automatic type and may you not be able to wind it up use the crown wheel (winder). The details on their web site do not describe the operation of the watch, so I can't be absolutely sure about this.

You can wind an automatic watch by swinging it genetly from side to side for few minutes.

When fully wound, the watch will remain working for 42 hours (when not being worn).

These watches thrive on being used and if used daily, they should remain operating.

My problem is all of a sudden I have to wind up my watch every morning after it sits on my bedside table over night. It is meant to last over 24 hours without having to wind it up but this all of a sudden...

your watch might have to be serviced. If you are manually winding your watch thats not good at all because it puts unnecessary rapid stress on the sensitive auto reverser wheels possibly damaging the tiny internal clicks. The torque pressure resulting from manual winding of automatic watches is not made for, day-in day-out, manual winding, especially if the watch is not in a pristine new or overhauled condition. It is better to buy a watch winder to keep your watch running.

You should get it looked at by a watch maker who is very qualified or send it to Tag Heuer to get serviced they will give you a quote on how much it will cost before repairing watch so you may decide if you want to go through with it or not.

Sometimes its simple things such as needing lubrication or cleaning. An automatic watch should be serviced every 5 years anyways. So best advice is to get it checked by a well trained professional. My watch guy is great and really cheap . I would ask around make sure you are dealing with a master watch maker though.

Baume & mercier hampton city watch

Does the dial have "Automatic" wtitten on it". If it does then it's a mechanical movement. If it has "Quartz" then it requires a battery. If the watch isn't running perhaps it just needs a battery. This may also explain why the pushers aren't working. If it's mechanical the watch needs to be wound before the pushers will work. What are the markings on the subdial.
