On a Toshiba satellite laptop when turning on the screen is blank and in white Lett it says enter password but I never set one

you are here because Toshiba's online help is gone. sure.
they tell you there to go to tomshardware and as there.
no PC stated at all model name and numbers..
what if kids set the password, playing with it.
remove the battery from the PC, big one
no AC pack.
push power button for 3 times for 10 seconds each.
wait,5min. hands off PC.
now put the AC pack back.
if the PW is still set, then next replace the coin cell battery inside.
on some Toshiba (none stated) that battery is a rechargeable and if bad, very hard to fix.
let the PC run on AC power only for 24hours in the hope that odd duck battery deep inside recharges, leave the big battery out for all tests, (until PC runs ok again on AC power)

never post about a PC unless, the full model # and name is told
example 1(random)

Why is my laptop unable to run off battery power, even though battery shows fully charged and AC is unplugged

It's time for you to replace your battery.

how old is your laptop? and how do u use it - do u leave it plugged into the wall socket all the time? It's common for batteries to die out after a couple of years. however, if the computer overheats or if you leave it plugged in all the time, it's life cycle will decrease. Charge - discharge cycles. That's how you are suposed to do it.

I need to know how to use my new laptop battery correctly.

The first time you charge the battery allow 12 to 16 hours, after that 2 to 4 hours or when battery is charged. If you go on battery frequently drain it right down before charging it, this will give the maxi-um performance and longevity.

Computer will not power on

i would guess that the motherboard has been damaged, perhaps with excessive current or AC power out ? perhaps the CPU heatsink fan failed and damaged the CPU ?

what was the circumstance while the computer worked well , the last time you used it ?

did you leave it on while plugged into the wall AC power outlet -- perhaps overnight or for a lengthy time period , leaving the laptop unattended ?

do you know if the battery was working well , last time you used the computer ? was the AC ADAPTER WORKING WELL ENOUGH TO FULLY CHARGE THE BATTERY ? PERHAPS THE BATTERY WAS NOT CHARGED up siufficiently to allow power to turn ON THE LAPTOP, THUS W/O POWER FROM THE BATTERY AS A RESULT OF A BAD AC adapter, now the computer has no source .

here is a link to some information you can review to assit you .

Pavilion dv9308nr PC Notebook: hp dv9308nr wont power on all the time... works if...

Due to regular use of the notebook, some static charges tend to stay in the computer, and sometimes results in not allowing the computer to function properly.

Please follow the power drain procedure to confirm the same:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30seconds to 1 minute.
4. Put the Battery in.
5. Reconnect the AC adapter.
6. Turn on the Notebook power.
7. Restart the Notebook.

If the Notebook boots up you may fix the battery back. Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa. If the issue still persists then I request you to reset the memory modules, as sometimes the memory module connection get loose.

Acer Aspire 3680 2682 will not power up

there are some reasons laptop can't power on, try to troubleshoot.
1. Make sure that your ac adapter is working. if you plug battery and ac adapter, the battery chargin led will be orange and if the battery is full, the led will be yellow.
2. Can you power on using battery ? if you can and you can't power on using ac adapter (i assume your ac adapter is working). the problem will be your power port.
if you can't power on using battery and your battery is working ok. the problem will be motherboard.

Lap top problem

Hi

If the AC power light is blinking, try the following steps:

1 Cut off power to the computer by disconnecting the AC adaptor and removing the battery. The error condition will be interrupted, and the AC power light will stop flashing.

2 Put the battery back into the computer. Do not connect the AC adaptor. Try turning the computer on again. If the computer starts normally, the AC adaptor may be
defective and will need to be replaced. If the AC power light starts flashing, remove the battery, and continue with the steps below.

3 Connect the AC adaptor to the computer. Leave the battery out of the computer. Try turning the computer on again. If the computer starts normally, the battery may need charging, may be depleted, or may be defective. Turn the computer on, insert the battery, and then leave the computer running for several hours, which will deliver a slow, steady “trickle-charge” to the battery. Once the battery has been trickle-charged, it may begin working correctly again. If the trickle-charging does not prove effective, consider replacing the battery with a new one.

4 Connect the AC adaptor to a different power outlet, preferably in a different room. If the computer starts normally, there may be a problem with the AC outlet itself, or the voltage level available from it.

5 Verify that the AC adaptor is the correct unit for your computer model. The computer may not be able to start from an AC adaptor that is rated for less current (amperage) than the computer requires, even if the rated voltage is correct, and the plug fits correctly in the DC-IN socket. The labels on the bottom of the computer and the AC adaptor show the specifications for voltage ("V") and current ("A") for each device. The voltage level must match exactly. The amperage rating of the AC adaptor must be equal to or greater than that required by the computer

Mike
