My 2004 36" flat screen Toshiba TV remote stopped working all of a sudden about 2 years ago. Replaced remote and batteries, still no luck. I even tried to program it with a 5 in 1 universal remote from radio shack that works with just about everyhing else I have. Any solutions?

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, there is a partial test to confirm if the old/original remote is working or not. With fresh batteries, point the remote towards an active digital camera. For every press of any button on the remote, there should be a bright light that would register on the LCD screen of the camera. No light, no infrared transmission from the remote; remote faulty.

Offhand, if the original remote is functional, then the most likely suspect would be the IR receiver of the TV itself and/or its associated circuitry.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

either the remote is bad or on the tv the circuit board at has the remote receiver on it is bad. If you bought it new and it has a warranty contact them for service. If not you could try programming a universal remote to see if it will work your set.

Samsung 40" flat screen looses sound

this problem started on my LN-S4051D a couple of years ago. eventually the sound stopped working altogether. I then started using my surround sound speakers for the TV via optical out but soon that stopped working as well. I recently took the TV to a repair shop who said that the main board is bad and needs to be replaced. Labor plus parts was going to cost me $400. I said no thanks and paid for the estimate. Good luck.

LCD TV Remote quit working

Hi,
First thing, turn off the TV and unplug it for about 2-3 minutes. Remove also the batteries on your remote. Re-install the batteries on the remote and plug in your TV. Power on your TV using the remote. No luck?
Norcent may not be supported by a universal remote. If you just bought your unit new (maybe Best Buy who carries this brand) you are still covered by its warranty. Below are ways you can reach Norcent.

Remote problems

Take the remote to your local Radio Shack and have it tested.. They used to carry IR cards and now have a pen-like tester that can tell if the remote is operating properly. Then, if you're sure the code is correct, you probably will have to have the IR detector in the Tv replaced...
