I hear the fan almost non stop while the tv is on.

There is a humming/saw noise coming from the back of my Samsung HDtv progressive monitor immediately after being turned on. The noise remains 98% of the time until i turn the tv off. After powering off, the noise stops immediately and then the tv "clicks" off after 25-30 seconds. There does not appear to be a timer, lamp or temp problem as the front indicator lights function properly. The instruction manual includes HLN467W/HLN567W/HLN4365W/HLN5065W/HLN437W/HLN507W/HLN617W. I'm thinking it is the fan that cools the lamp as the instruction manual mentions we will hear it occassionally. Why is it staying on all of the time? Why does it sound like a quiet saw?

You have a bad color wheel. The color wheel is located in front of the lamp, as the light shines through it as it spins. It is made up of different colored segments of glass, and one of the segments has came loose and causing the vibrating humming noise. The reason I know it isn't a fan is because the fans will continue to run for about 30 seconds after the set is powered off. The click you hear is the relay cutting off the fans. The color wheel cuts off as soon as you press the power button to cut the set off. I've replaced many of these at our shop for the same problem.

How do I fix loud humming noise in my DLP HLP4663W 42 IN Samsung TV?

I would start by checking all the cooling fans to see if one is dirty or possibly failing.

Samsung hlr506 tv is humming is it the fan or light

The humming sound is usually indicating a color wheel issue but could also be a fan. The best bet is try to determine which arear the sound is coming from. If non of the fans have that sound then the color wheel would be suspect.

Humming sound when switching on TV

It is very possible it could be the fan. Do check fan and venting to make sure it is not full of dust and getting plenty of air.

Humming noise when turned on

It is very possible that it is the fan you are hearing. They run constantly running, and their bearings tend to overheat casing a hum noise.

TV made humming noise for past few months and after it warmed up the humming would go away. It that same thing today and a pop noise came and the screen will not come on, and the tv shuts off and then...

i took off the back and pulled out the the fan. Then put in a fat screw between a slight gap whick kept the fan from hitting what ever is causing the noise. probably not safe but nothing bad happened yet.

My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Help

color wheel can make a squealing noise when the bearings go out, or a defective light engine can make a grinding noise.
