My Amana 19cu ft refrigerator, freezer on the bottom. Refrigerator stopped working, freezer is still working, MODEL DRB1901CW. S/N109533070CE

There are plenty of reasons this could happen like the following: PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE Loud operating sound level • See "Sound Information" section for explanation of normal operating sounds Freezer too warm. Compressor not operating • Freezer temperature set too warm • Defective compressor • Defective overload or relay Refrigerator too cold • Refrigerator temperature set too cold • Chefs Pantry control set too cold or misaligned allowing freezer air to escape into refrigerator section • Freezer temperature set too cold • Restricted condenser air • Refrigerant shortage or restriction • Refrigerant overcharge Freezer too warm. Compressor cuts off on overload • Heavy usage • High ambient • Restricted condenser air • Defective condenser fan motor • Loose or missing condenser fan blade • Improper voltage • Defective relay or overload • Compressor motor winding • Non-condensibles in system • Refrigerant overcharge Freezer too warm. Compressor operating • Freezer temperature set too warm • Restricted condenser air • Defective condenser fan motor • Opened door • Heavy usage • Defective freezer fan motor • Opened defrost thermostat • Opened defrost heater • Loose or missing freezer or condenser fan blade • Heavily frosted evaporator • Refrigerant shortage or restriction • Inefficient compressor Refrigerator too warm • Refrigerator temperature set too warm • Freezer temperature set too warm • Return air or air supply duct blocked • Chefs Pantry control set too warm or air supply tube blocked • Heavy usage • High ambient Problem Possible Cause Freezer too cold • Freezer temperature set too cold Long off cyde • Low ambient • Freezer temperature set too warm Short off cycle • Heavy usage • High ambient • Freezer temperature set too cold • Light constantly on • Poor door gasket seal Long or continuous run cyde • Heavy usage • High ambient • Inadequate condenser air flow • Freezer temperature set too cold • Loss or restricted refrigerant Short run cycle • Light usage • Low ambient • Freezer temperature set too warm Exterior cabinet condensation • High humidity. Design accepts beads of water on cabinet exterior after 4 hours with 0° to 2°F (-18° to -17°C) freezer food temperature and 38° to 40°F (3° to 4°C) refrigerator food temperature in 84% R.H. conditions. See "Typical Sweat Pattern" section under above conditions. • Freezer temperature set too cold • Poor door gasket seal • Insulation void

Freezer is working, refrigerator is warm

You probably have a defrost issue with the freezer. Cold air is passed to the refrigerator section from the freezer, when the freezer does not defrost air flow to the refrigerator is eliminated causing the refrigerator to warm up. Check for icing on the back wall of the freezer. If no ice on back of freezer, check the damper assembly going to the refrigerator section.

Frigidaire Gallery Warm Refrigerator Cold Freezer

Generally the thermostat that turns on and off the compressor is in the freezer and so is the coils. The control knob that is in the refrigerator section is just to adjust the air flow between the two sections. If the air flow is blocked you don't get cooling in the refrigerator section. This could be a bad fan motor not creating circulation, ice blockage because the defrost cycle is not melting away ice accumulation. If it's defrost problems it could be timer, defrost thermostat, or heater element.

Freezer section gone warm, feels like refer section may be getting warm. Possible cold controls problem

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

My GE TFX30PP is constantly running and doesn't turn off. The freezer is very cold but the frig side isn't cold enough. A repair guy put in a new "cold contol" sensor but it didn't help.

This is a very common issue, If the freezer compartment is cold and making ice the
problem is simply airflow from the freezer into the refrigerated section.
Typically when one senses the refrigerator is warm they max out the settings
on both dials the thermostat with its 1-10 settings as well as off for the compressor.
This controls the compressor and temperature.
The additional setting or dial is for colder freezer or refrigerator as well , However
it simply opens or closes a flapper door between the freezer and refrigerator boxes.
When that dial or setting is maxed , it closes and makes the freezer colder, yet leaves the refrigerated section starved for sufficient airflow to maintain a cold box in the refrigerated section.
Just set the dial that does not turn the compressor off to the middle setting.
One can leave the thermostat that does control the compressor in the max setting , just not the colder freezer setting, If you notice colder isnt colder refrigerator, Its actually colder freezer, A common issue found on 25% of all refrigerator calls a simple setting adjustment.
Its easy to think that maxing out the settings makes for a colder refrigerator, it doesnt, it makes a colder freezer and warm rerigeration section.
If a freezer is making ice, theres nothing wrong with the unit other than airflow setting.
I would also clesan the condenser coils off.

Freezer cold fridge warm

sounds like the evaporator in the freezer section is iced up and you need to see if the defrost section is working correctly, then as for the warm refrige side,it sound as if the vent damper door is frozen shut or the cold control in the refrige isn't opening it to let cold air into the refrige from the freezer,if its frozen take a hand held hair dryer and remove the vent grille over it and defrost it and then check to make sure the control opens and closes it as you adjust its control in the refrige

The freezer is cold but the refrigerator section is not getting cold...it is not warm but not cold according to the dial settings

check the operation of the damper door between the freezer/refrigerator section which lets cold from freezer into refrige compartment for ice build-up which will cause damper door to not open fully and cool the refrige compartment,if this is the problem, unplug the door ans remove and let thaw then replace and try it then

I have a Kenmore refrigerator (model 253.63732300) with freezer on top. The freezer section is cold but the lower section or the refrigerator section is not cold. It is warm. Any suggestion on why this is...

Hi, Check in the freezer section and see if there is frost building up on the rear panel. Notice if the evaporator fan motor is running. If there is frost, you need to repair the defrost cycle.
Please let me know if this what you find so I can assist you further.

look on the backside of the freezer for frost. You might have a bad defrost heater....read more

Freezer too cold frosty, and refrigerator section too warm

Sounds like a defrost problem if the evaporator is frozen over. If it's just Ice blocking air transfer on a top freezer model, then it's a blocked defrost drain.
