The X stands for XML (Extensible Markup Language), which is the programming language behind the scenes in Office 2007 programs.
Previous versions of Word were based on binary data. Binary data is, by nature, prone to corruption, and "bloated."
By changing the background code, Microsoft was able to create new tools and features in Word 2007 that would not have been possible otherwise.

I forget my word file password how can i open it

You may use a trick to open a password protected Word file.

Rename the Word file with .rtf extension and open it again in Word pad. The file should now open in rich text format without styling and formatting that you had before.

Alternatively, you may try some softwares to open password protected Word file.

Compatibility Pack for MS Office, doc to docx, ppt to pptx, xls to xlsx

This tip is all about the compatibility issues between the Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 with Office 2007. Because all programs in Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 used the old file extensions for its different programs. For example Word 2000 saved files with extension .doc, Excel 2000 with .xls and PowerPoint 2000 with .ppt. but on the other Office 2007 used the new file extensions for its different programs. For example Word 2007 saved files with extension .docx, Excel 2007 with .xlsx and PowerPoint 2007 with .pptx. Now the problem is that when you will try to open Office 2007 files into Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 you will not open the file due to compatibility issues between both office versions (before 2007 and after 2007). Microsoft provides a free compatibility pack to convert Office 2007 documents to the Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003 format. There are many third party free converter are available but here we are using Microsoft office compatibility pack.

Please follow the given link to download free Microsoft compatibility pack -

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en

Just install the compatibility pack after downloading........

How do you import docx to pages

HI David. docx files open naturally in Pages - you don't have to import them. Right-Click or Control-Clickon your docx file and you'll get the contextual menu. One of the options is 'Open With".
Choose that and you should get offered Textedit as the first choice and Pages as the second. Choose pages and that is it. Hopefully all subsequent docx files will open in Pages, but in case they don't, single click on one of them., go to the file menu and select 'Get Info' Near ther bottom is the 'Open with' selector. reset it to Pages and then make sure that the box underneatch that says 'Open all docx files with Pages' (or whatever the exact wording is) is checked.

Hi, there are many way to do so. Following are few online and offline methods/workarounds to read the content of docx format files.1. I can't open a lot of email attachments

    Hi.
For opening documants you need the proper program to do so.
    As an example:
PDF files you need a PDF Reader - eventually Adobe
Another example - when opening Microsoft Office files there might be difficulties. As an example docx files can only be opened using Microsoft Office 2007 or newer.
OK - a converter can be installed and it can be found on Microsoft homepage.

The situation is that you need to install the specific program to be able to open a specific type of file.

If you tell which files you can not open I can give you links to relevant program downloads. You then just need to install these programs - problem solved.

Awaiting your response - If you need further help.

Cannot open a file from docx documents

    Hello there!

Well that problem can be caused only if you are using older version of microsoft office 2007. If you have MS2003 package, and trying to open docx file extensions that will not work, but you are able to use docx extensions with MSoffice2007 package. In your question you put that you already use MS office 2007 package,so i suggest your docx extension is somehow corrupted.

If you had downloaded it from the internet please redownload it again.

If that was your work try to save it in doc format 1st then in docx if you want to enable only msoffice2007 users to use it. Good luck ! =)

    Please rate my solutions! =)

    Sincerely
    Aleksandar Adzic

    Problems with .docx files

For infomration on Office 2007 .DOCX file format, refer to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100444731033.aspx

I use Office 2003, and have installed and currently employ the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for 2007 Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint File Formats" mentioned in article. This is, for the most part, seamless when reading in Office 2007 .DOCX or .PPTX files, for examples, in Office 2003.

Otherwise, in Office 2007, you can change and set your Word Options so that you can save files in a specific format, including a previous Office version to ensure compatibility.
    See http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/11/25/how-to-change-default-file-saving-format-from-docx-to-doc-in-word-2007/

Hope this makes sense... Good Luck!
